• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Hello, I have been struggling with a new fear. Its confusing and ill try my best to explain.

So I get getting this weird question that wont get out of my head. It goes something like this "what if you and all the Christians are blind to the real truth and the jews are right and Jesus isn't the Messiah?"

My whole ocd theme is sorta based on how do I know blah blah blah. It just bothers me. It makes me feel unsure about everything like I can't know the truth. Its so bizarre. I have been trying erp but its not going well. I ignore it and feel ok for awhile but when it comes time to pray for my meal or something I am overcome with these thoughts and feelings. Any advice for this?

Christianity is based on historical facts. Far more intelligent people than you and I have investigated and confirmed these facts.
example William lane Craig, a professor of philosophy, Dr G Habbermass a professor of history, Lee Stobel a journalist, Sir William mitchel Ramsay archeologist.
You can investigate what these people found when they looked into the truth of Christianity and having done so trust the bible.

Your real problem is not, ' how do I know', but your acceptance of intrusive thoughts.
Look up 25 tips for successfully treating your OCD, in particular point 4, intrusive thoughts.
It says don't argue, debate or try to ignore intrusive thoughts, just acknowledge them and move on.

If Jesus was not the messiah which the bible does make prophecy in many places that no one can prove does not refer to Him the god of the Jews must be a devil that they follow as Jesus calls them a synagogue of satan because people could not be sure whether to believe in him if he didn’t prove as Jesus said you have neither heard His voice at any time nor seen His form they don’t know for sure prophecies don’t refer to Jesus for I have even called for him to reveal and he has never proved and until they do to prove to have power over others they are not valid.

Some people may not believe in demons, but I do. When a thought invades you like someone coming into your house without knocking on the door and asking to come in it can be demonic in nature. Satan wants you to be in fear because like faith casts out fear, the opposite is true in that fear can neutralize faith and the ultimate target the enemy uses fear against us is our faith in God.
Everyone that shows an attraction to God, that could be saved, are saved, and are trying to evangelize to others to get them saved are an enemy to the forces of evil and they send out demons that like to "speak" to you in your mind and convince you that the truth is a lie and a lie is the truth.
The only way to combat fear is to exercise your faith and learn about God and men of faith in the Bible and how they fought back in the war of faith vs fear and called upon the Holy Spirit to fight off and command demons out of peoples lives.

1. Jews don't have "another Messiah" that they are pointing to
2. Dan 9 put a time limit of 490 years from the rebuilding of Jerusalem after the Babylonian Captivity - for the Messiah to appear on Earth. We are long past that date since the decree to rebuild was completed in 457 B.C.

So not having "another one" to choose from ... and having the time period already elapse (the OT Hebrew - Jewish time period in this case) -- it only leaves you with two options
1. Christ is the Messiah
2. The Messiah failed to show up and Christ was an exceptionally talented individual when it comes to raising the dead, raising himself from the dead, healing the sick , casting out demons and foretelling the future.

This kind of fear and obsession is very typical of OCD. You are on the right track with doing ERP and ignoring your obsessive thoughts. Can you identify some of the compulsions that you have?

Researching and seeking answers on topics about Jesus obsessively
What do you think are some small, manageable steps you could take to work on not doing (or at least limiting) your compulsions?

whenever I have doubts, I look at my life before I was born again and realize the miracle that God did to me, I am a new creation in Christ, and it shows in my life.
the new heart compared to the old how can we deny what He has done for us?
