Christian "Hate" Groups?

I was wondering what you all thought of groups such as the KKK, neo-nazis, skinheads, gay bashers, violent pro-life groups (clinic bombers), other white supremacists, etc.?

Many, if not all, of the groups mentioned above cite Biblical passages and act as they do in the name of the Christian god. I know that these people are a minority and do not represent Christianity as a whole (thank goodness!), but I wanted to know how you react when these people make the news, have rallies in your hometowns, speak publicly about their views, etc...?

Personally i ignore them, one day the tables will be turned on them, i do not need to worry about them. most of them in idiots, with not much goal in life.

But when they showed up, and saw about 2000 African Americans and another couple a hundred of other's, they decided it wasn't a good idea, lol. These people are extremist "Christians". They have no backing to what they believe, say or do. They are like the extremist Muslims. Only not as bad. At least they don't kill each other.

Actually, they used to kill quite a bit up until the 70's. Also, I know I probably shouldn't point this out, but Christ never advocated violence whereas Muhammed frequently slaughtered entire towns who would not convert and advocated the use of violence and subterfuge to spread Islam at all costs.

And the kind/loving Muslims are the "misguided" Muslims (because they are kinder, which of course is good, they could be better Christians than other people today if only they believed as we do). That aside... (and please, no discussion on that subject)

These people who say and do those things aren't extremist Christians. They are children of Satan who quote the Bible to try and justify their actions. They are not even Christians.

That somebody cites scripture doesn't make them Christian.

Jesus said that you'll know who belongs to Him by the fruit that they produce. The fruit these people produce isn't consistent with that of someone who has been regenerated by the Holy Spirit.

Oh, ok, gotcha. I still don't know if I would use the term "Extremist" Muslims since they are the ones who are truely following the teacings of Islam, though I think they are stretching things by considering suicide as a jihad death.

Suicide bomber = Extremist

Muslim who captures a non-Muslim and saws off their head with a knife = Just doing what his religion teaches so he is a true Muslim.

Christians believe Jesus they believe His teachings. Many people put the tag of this religion or that faith upon themselves to try an add some form of respectability to their group and its cause. But the truth of the situation comes when you compare their doctrines and actions against the Words of Jesus. There are many fakes in this world. I would love to have them banned from using the word Christian as a form of false advertising but i am not much of a fan or the worldly judicial systems either.

Search under "Christian Identity" and you should find some info on them. I know some of them, though I can't grasp the contradictions in their rhetoric.

ok i know that asks for no discussion on the subject but i really cannot continue my day in peace with this floating out there and not saying something about it. Muslim religion has evolved and also has different ideas, most muslim scholars (and i mean a HUGE majority of them) think violence is not the answer only the extremeist resort to violence, same as christians there are extremeist that give all others a bad name.

and on a side note muslims believe Jesus was a profit of God, Mohammad did not want his wife burried next to him because he wanted Jesus next to him when he died becasue he believed Jesus would one day come back to Earth to again be the messenger of God

I think they are appalling and un-Christian, but I think the run-of-the-mill opposition to legal abortion and gay rights is not particularly Christian, either.

It's funny because I was just thinking last night about how much it bothers me the way that many Christians who are stepped in the contemporary American conservative tradition seem to ALWAYS respond to news of these kinds of hate acts with "They are wrong but blah-blah-blah is still a sin." Like, after Matthew Shepard got killed, you'd hear a lot of, "I'm sorry he was killed, and that was wrong...BUT homosexuality is an abomination to God." Or, "I don't support clinic violence...BUT abortion is murder." What is up with that? Why not just express grief or sympathy without turning it into an opportunity to push the right-wing agenda on others? It's sad.

Those groups that do these things will have to answer to God. THey are not christians in my mind and what they do is there beef with God. I pray that God would touch there minds and hearts. Because the things they do are definately not of Christ.

And to the post two above mine - I don;t know why people think it is a could idea to piggy-back on someone else's hatred. I just had a conversation with an indiviudal who piggy-backed on some of the "good" ideas of Hitler (I won;t go into what they were). I did ask why someone would want to associate anything with HItler. The answer is: evil.

I really didn't expect this thread to turn into some sort of Islam-bashing free-for-all, and for that, I'm sorry. I have both Muslim and Christians friends, and it's uncalled for to say that either is a murderous group. Both have bloody histories. That doesn't mean that today's Christians and Muslims are cruel or savage. Things change. People change. It's not fair to assert your opinions on someone based on what their great, great, great, great, great.... grandfather did. I don't base my opinion on all Christians by what the hatemongering groups I mentioned in the original post have done, I will not base my opinion on all Muslims by what terrorist groups have done.


Thank you all very much for your responses. It makes me very glad to know that the hate groups I referred to in my original post do not make up a large body of Christians (if they can be considered Christians at all).


loriersea, I agree with your post wholeheartedly. I can't comprehend the "...BUT.." arguments that so many people give to seemingly justify a illegal acts or to dismiss genuine grief over a lost loved one.

To be very honest, these groups who use scripture to back up what they do, make me angry. And it doesn't take a group to do this either. Anybody can take scripture and justify their actions.

I admit I am no expert on Islam. I only know what I've read in history books and what I have heard from former Muslims and from watching the news. Islam may have changed in the last 20 years or so and suddenly become a religion of peace but for the last 1400 years or so, it has not been so. Repentant, we both know someone who converted to Orthodoxy from Islam and had to flee her home out of fear for her safety. I think she knows a bit more about Islam than you or I.

But I am sorry for my part in hijacking this thread and will leave it now. I meant no offense to anyone, Muslim, Christian or otherwise.

It makes me sick to my stomach to see these people try to justify their actions with the Bible. It wouldn't bother me at all if people would realize that these hatemongers are ignorant of anything talked about in the Bible, however most people without any knowledge of Christianity see this as an indication of what our religion is all about. Personally, this only makes me realize the fullness of Satan's plan to discredit Jesus. He is clever, but it fills my heart with sadness because I know that many people are looking at these people saying "This is why Christianity is a stupid religion, this is why the Bible is false, because it promotes hate." I don't even drive on the road with a Jesus fish on my car, because if I ever make a bonehead move on the road, I don't want people to say "There goes another one of those Christian hypocrites - driving like a maniac, cutting me off "(or something similar). I don't want Christ to get blamed for me not paying attention while driving, so you can imagine how grieving it is for me to see someone calling for a genocide waving a Bible around.
