and you seem to be making a lot of assumptions about my personal relationship with my Father... which is not your place.
I appreciate you trying to hold me accountable, as we are called to do, but I think you could do it in a more loving manner.
Like I said earlier, I am not really 'goth' anymore, because, yes, I have gotten closer to my creator. But it isn't going to stop me from liking dark things, wearing mostly black and having a macabre sense of humor. many 'normal' looking Christians that I know are close with God like the same 'dark' things that I do.

Once again, faulty assumptions... Where in the Bible does it single out "gothic" as a sin?

If a person dresses in all black, enjoys the nighttime sky, contemplates death a lot(possibly), and as goth4God said, has a "macabre sense of humor," is that not goth? Why is any of that a sin????????

Catholic....^_^ gosh I would love to see the faces of the assorted anglican Bishops who know me if you told them that one.

It is also okay to say you have not got a clue about the words I have used because you have not got a clue about the threads OP let alone some of the twists you decided to give it.

Sanguine is known to those who get something out of the endless variety and depravity on offer in the BDS&M clubs. Its also the less popular option with the Anne Rice wannabes and disenfranchised church kids who rebel.
Funny how that scene it attracts a certain kind of middle age man who can be found in most churches over those who reject the world and dress in black.
Give me hearts over empty lips any day.

Do say if you want to go down the route of labelling people as not being Christian as they do not dress or think as you. Romans 12 applies to ALL so lets not forget the geist of what Christ said- show love for one another so the world knows you love Christ.

I wouldn't consider myself a goth but I do like gothic rock, post-punk and neoclassical music to some extent. I like the deathrock, punk and Victorian style attire too and well the makeup. For example,

.......so that must be why I always get voted for to sit on English Synods ....

I think I have a better idea of the structure and the spiritual discernment needed for different vocational callings in my denomination than you clearly have.

Now what did Paul write to the church in 1 Corinth 12-13. You seem to think Pauls epistles do not need to apply to variety in the whole Corpus Christi. Your preferred stance is nothing short than behaving like the Galations who tried to force circumcision on all.

Johnny Cash wore all black and was a very devout Christian. Did he drink blood, cast spells and go floating around while sitting atop a broom, or maybe his guitar? Evil guitar! Burn it! It is a witch!

Ok, follow up question... How does one like they drink blood? Can someone look like they are a vegetarian? Perhaps dressing like they like The Carpenters or has a peanut allergy? If we all start judging someone by their physical appearance then we lose.

I think you know you are wrong and are taking it out on this gentleman. HOW RUDE!!! Im not a judge of who's saved or anything but if I had to look at the man in blacks lifestyle and music without VH1 telling me whatva devout christian he wasbibwould not draw that conclusion. As I learned in the military if the is the apearance of wrong doing then there us wrong doing, hey let's take it one step further and go with Jesus if you think evil you have done it. Is it evil to be goth yes, is it evil to dress in all black, maybe not but why do it and risk offending a brother ( which by the way is wrong). You see a little common sense would tell you you are on the wrong side of this thing and if you can't be made to see it then you end up at the point where christian brothers are not to break bread with you ir treat you as one of them.

I agree. Witchcraft and the like are horrible sins. But Christianity is more than just actions. Its intent. We are called to do righteous works, not just good works. We are to give glory to God in everything we do. If you dress a certain way, promote God through it, not something worldly. Anything can be a sin. Simply dressing nice so you look nice is a sin. If it is not done with the intention to give glory to God, it is a sin, IMO.

That is the exact truth. You can put a cassock on a man and have him as a priest in a church. That does not automatically make him holy, just because he dresses the part... as we all know to be true. Just the same as you cannot put a kid in tight black pants, a black shirt, black boots and dyed hair and call him an abomination of the Word.

back2bible, I think we are all getting what you are saying but you are applying your words to everyone who "looks" gothic as being unrighteous and unparticipative in Christianity because of the color of the clothes they buy at Walmart and the mall. That is where my disagreement resides. Sure, some goth kids are rebelling against their parents God. Most of those are struggling with their faith or their lack of faith due to ignorance. Those types usually outgrow those beliefs as they get older. Then you have Goths who are broken into a couple different areas. Satanists are not Goth. Marilyn Manson spooky kids are not Goth. Columbine shooters were not Goth. Goths would never partake in violence. It is a peaceful and romantic and very open-minded and welcoming community that prides itself in taking those who feel they are different and castoffs and providing them with a social circle where they do not have to be afraid to be themselves. The black is mostly an identifier that sets them apart from the mainstream and allows familiarity between them.

I am not trying to argue my point but to explain why a blanket opinion does not apply to Goths and mostly likely all subcultures.

To anyone reading this, because theres like um 1500 views, rlly!?!?:

Galatians 5:16 "I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh."

Romans 14:13 "Therefore let us not judge one another anymore, but rather resolve this, not to put a stumbling block or a cause to fall in our brother’s way."

Ok anyone actually read these two verse? (only, because there are plenty of more)
Let us not be a stumbling block to others, that means curse your brother or sister even in Christ, i know its hard to believe. Instead lets resolve this, just as the bible says. That means in a peaceful loving way. Is it right to treat a brother or sister like this?

Romans 12:10 "Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another"

-this verse was on a veggietales movie, cmon brothers n sisters in Christ. Lets apply this to our lives.

@backtobible, sorry dude, my tone was not Christ like towards you, but please be kind to brothers and sisters in Christ.

This thread had a big clean up. This is NOT a debate forum. It is a fellowship forum. When someone starts posting who is debating, report them and do not engage them in further debate. Don't encourage it.

The topic is in the OP - let's keep it civil.

Hmm...took me forever to find this thread again. I thought it was deleted for some odd reason, but glad to see it still going.

I also see no point in debating this lifestyle. I have seen this subject debated to no avail before, so it's pointless. But I can give you a quote that can relate to some of the previous posts. I'm taking this quote a bit out of context, but i think yall will agree with me. Like my pastor says in my bible class, "Every sin is a weight, but not every weight is a sin".

Other words, there are sins in the world that can look similar to gothic, but doesn't mean the gothic lifestyle is a sin. To me, the gothic lifestyle is a type of weight. No one fully understands you, but you feel at home with your style. But if I'm able to use this weight to reach people that have the same interests and style as me, then so be it.

I can't tell you when I originally went goth. but once I did and I found my a-like friends, i knew were I belonged.
