There´s not many very good christian games out on the market yet (compared to secular ones), but I would be interested in your views of the games.

What would be an ideal christian game?
(please leave technical dreams to someone else), let´s talk about the content of a christian game. Also what do u think about the games out in the market now? :groupray:

I think one thing that should be in a Christian game is the ability to choose to do right or wrong. God gives us this choice, so I think a game should have that in it.
Yeah, I agree... in INKVISITOR, a new christian game, you can for example choose to "be Rambo" or then u can use your brain instead and sneak, or in some tactical way try to get past a enemy! (this may be a little according to your thoughts!)
So u can choose, but in the end you will face your acts...

In fact it´s much harder to make a christian game story, than to make a secular one. A christian game could from one point of view not include any violence... but then again, it will quite soon be a BOORING:sleep: game.

I think that there should be a difference in how we look at things! Like we have violence in the bible (OT), but the bible doesn´t encourage us to be violent.. in the same way if there is violence in a christian game it shouldn´t be made "COOL" to splash the head of someone... but as I said, it´s harder to make a good christian game story!

THX, please give more ideas!

Lets see..you could make a strategy like game where you have to convert the masses somehow prolly, but that would prolly end up boring.
Ahh! Make one based soley on spiritual warfare! A story could entail how you are assigned to be some kids guardian angel like guy, and in the game, the story would have to be cool tho, and depending on how well you do, if you win or lose, the kid loses to temptation if you lose, which will take him down a diffeerent branh of the game depending on how you do. You could make it either an action game or strategy or puzzle or basically anything.
Another (IMO) good game idea for spiritual warfare, would be to have a massive Total War styel game where you control either massive swarms of Angels or Demons (each with unique skills and such. for instance, a Demon commander could have a skill deception, and make you think that there is a group of ....Elite demons on your flank or something, and the Angel commander could have a skill that counters that called....a spiritual gift like...prophecy where he can see through stuff like that or something). In the campaign part (not the battle part) you can be trying to take earth back from Satan. You could somehow base it all on Revalations or something like that.

Those were just off the top of my head, so they may not be good idea's at all. Regardless

or instead of doing all the other stuff take the battles and conquests of the OT and have someone fight through them, Will Jerusalem fall when Bablyon invades or will it stand? can the Isrealites over come the greater numbers and techknowledgy or will they become slaves?

Thx for the game ideas!
The discussing among the christian game producers and resellers seem to be if a christian game can include violence at all. From one point I understand this question very well, and it would be good if christian games could offer a none violent option with some christianity in them.
However if we want to reach the market, both secular and christian, I think myself the view and production of games should be much wider...

Why not the OT "battle game"... spiritual warfare between good and evil.... where there would be action, but still a christian view on things...
In other words, why make a "dull" game that most people won´t play... isn´t it better to make a gfame that teenagers play, that has christian thoughts in it... wouldn´t that reach out much better???

I will use those ideas when discussing future game ideas with my team! THX! Hopefully even more ideas comes up!

One thought I have had with regards to books is how many of them are about succeeding through your effort. Not about how much trust the characters have in God. Now this pretty much translates into games. Say for example somebody did a RTS and built up their army pretty good. How would they react to the prophet telling them that God wanted them to reduce the size of their army so as to leave no doubt it was God who won the day for them?

That element could be a plot twist.

The question you have to answer is if you want the Christian game as a game for "mature" Christians, or as a witnessing tool.

Pain Killer probably has some people thinking about God. But not exactly a biblical based game. I had a thought along those lines. The Fox show Brimstone from a few years back featured some spiritual elements. Perhaps sort of the opposite tack would make for a good Christian game. Sent to Earth to save souls instead of damning them. An RPG or maybe adventure game.

As far as the whole choice making thing, has anyone ever played black and white? I think it is a great god simulator, and it gives you a taste of what it would be like. If you are evil, people are more ready to do what you want, but they won't think too well of you and are easily converted by other gods. If you are good, the people will love you and will be very populuous, where as if youre evil you end up killing lots of people. MOre people means more power over the world, but being nice to them all the time makes them take you for granted, and they get mad easily if you don't do what they want or lash out in anger at them.

As for making a good christian game, I think they need to make one where youre like, a paladin or some kind of holy warrior and your going on a crusade or fighting demons and magic practitioners and stuff. Has anyone read This Present Darkness by Frank E Pereti? It's kind of a secret war in a town between angels and demons, and I think it would be very cool to play as an angel in a game based on it. However, there wasnt much action for the angels, but I havent read the whole series, so they could possibly do one on a sequel.
