Is it alright for a Christian to drink alcohol? 1- never, 2- moderately, 3- as much as they want

CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

If a person drinks alcohol and they are not harming anyone in the process, and drinking alcohol makes them happy, then I see no reason why I shouldnt be happy for them, nor do I perceive a reason why God shouldnt be happy for them as well.
If God really didnt want anyone to drink alcohol, then why did he make alcohol in the first place?
Of course my own personal advice on such matters is always all things in moderation.

I don't believe it is the drinking that is wrong, it is what comes with it. I mean, when you're really drunk you might commit sins that you wouldn't if you were sober. I'm not saying drinking is an excuse for committing sins, but you might go a little further when you've had something to drink.
By the way, I have never been drunk.

what are the reasons for drinking though?
i mean all alcohol (to me) smells and tastes the same == terrible (yes all of it, including those flavoured things, the smell of any wine, beer, or whatever alone drives me nuts. like sharp pains in my nose)
so the only reason i can think that people drink at all is to 'get drunk' to begin with

Beer tastes good! I will often have just one beer, purely for the fact it is really refreshing. this one beer will not get me anywhere near drunk, therefore I am not drinking alcohol for the sake of getting drunk. Of course getting drunk has it's merits too!!!

Yeah you are right man, but.. you miss the point. where moses or Noah perfect. NO. It still does not change the fact that it was wrong cause everyone but the Lord was and is a sinner. But you give a good point man peace.Meatros said:

On the basis that its not good for anyone to drink alcohol a christian should refrain also. I has nothing to do with being a christian. It has to do with protection your body. You only get one body so take care of it. Alochol is a toxic substance that will kill you if you take too much. The studies that say moderate use is good for you are weak at best.forjesus said:

I don't see where drinking is prohibited (Jesus made wine), though personally I choose not to drink.
