I've commented on the possibility that the child is possibly more fluid. You'll not that your own quote says "sometimes".
Regardless, this still doesn't show that the parents are forcing it on the child. You'll also note that this is a quote from someone who refused to follow the directions of her employer and got fired for it.
It doesn't show that they aren't forcing it on the child either. That cuts both ways. Whether the child is more fluid or not, for a six-year-old to not be consistent on something like that isn't at all developmentally normal. It should be investigated. Hopefully, an investigation will show there is no abuse. However, to not investigate and for there to actually be abuse is a worse thing. Better safe than sorry.
At the end of the day, it should be the child's welfare and best interest that drives everything. I don't care if the parents are offended or not.
