This is going to be an interesting reply...

UrbanFaerie, Manson is NOT Goth, never WILL be Goth, or have the slightest hope of being Goth...its something you're born with...He's just weird...I don't like him as a person, but I also look at the "Love the sinner, hate the sin" thing. I don't like his lyrics or way of life, but I respect him as a person because he was also created by God for a purpose. But anyways...

Kydra, you're right. Goth isn't a style, religion, or anything like that. Its a mindset, a way of life.

Spirituality, I will admit that yes, Goths look on the darker side of life, and its hard to explain when you're not in my brain, but I'll do the best I can. God created light, God created dark. Everything that God creates is beautiful, therefore, the dark is also beautiful. You cannot hide in the dark. Christian Goths take the dark and find the beauty in it.

And this part is for everyone but addressing RedGoddess' post. You're very right, Christ is hope and happiness. But let me put it this way...When someone becomes a Christian, they are filled with Christ's light and happiness. Now take those Gothics, who find the love of Christ, and throw them back into the darkness. They're familiar with it, BUT, now they have the protection of God. There are people in the dark who may never find the light, because they're not used to it and being exposed to it may be too much at once. But, if someone who they're used to comes, they're like a light in the dark, one that can progress as time goes on in someone's light. When Jesus was on earth, remember who he spent time with? The outcasts, rejects, the "Goths" of their day. The ones that weren't accepted and were outside of society.

End rant...may continue this another post.
Again, I don't want anyone to feel like I'm attacking them, because I'm not. I just don't want stereotypes of my people to be twisted as much as they are.

In Christ,
MutedXianGoth

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Whoa! Look at the awsome discovery this place is! Hi to everyone I am Godscareing and I must say I love this web site.... very cool. We are a Christian goth band in Los Angeles CA and are very glad to have found this place. This forum is very similar to our Godscare.net accept of course we are a bit more of a concentrated outreach.

Just wondering... any goths in here, hmmm? Alot of christian ministries think there is no room for such a thing as a christian gothic person. We've had our share of protestors and questioneers over the years... but what do ya'll believe around here?

How is someone born goth?
I mean this by saying that you were born with the mindset. You can't "become" Gothic. Its something that the person recognizes early on, their love for dark and mystery, and also just the general way of thinking. Gothics look at situations, and dont only look at the big picture or the little details. They look at them all and try to fit them together to come to a conclusion. Comprehension of things that aren't easily understood is also a characteristic. I guess you could say that many Gothics are also considered "Intellectuals" because of their thinking. Sadly, there are still those "goths" out there who think it means you have to worship satan/be part of a cult, wear all black and cuss all the time and listen to manson. I wear a lot of black, but its mostly just because I like the color and I happen to look good in it. So if I walk out of the house in blue jeans and a blue shirt (like I did yesterday), does that make me not Goth? No. Because its the mindset...not the appearance...
