Choosing a Name for this Forum

[St. Helens]

As promised the changes to the life stages have now come into effect. This is now the forum for people born between 1965 and 1980

The purpose of this thread is to possibly pick a better name for this forum other than Gen X unless the participants like that name. The forum title is going to be updated to reflect the dates based on The PEW Research Center.

1. GEN X (1965 to 1980)

2. Sandwich Generation (1965 to 1980)

3. The Breakfast Club ( 1965 to 1980)

Be free to add other suggestions. When there are enough I will create a poll. The winning name will become the name of the forum.

I wish I could think of a new name. I think we need a clever name to describe our generation. I'm guessing The Cabbage Kids or The Get Along Gang or the Thunder Cats is out of the question.

(in case it's not obvious, I was being sarcastic with the name suggestions)

You could always suggest a name you think is cool. Golden Eagles was picked for the Baby Boomers a while back because it was cool.

MTV Generation is a nickname for this generation because it was popular then this group was young.

Members don't have to suggest nicknames that describe the generation. They can choose something they like and can relate to such as a favorite TV show. I had to look up the kind of TV shows that generation X watched.

Examples might be Full House, The Wonder Years.

Just think outside the box when coming up with a name. What kind of name do you want your forum to have?

My only comment about focussing on things like TV shows, is that it inevitably ends up very America-centric.

That said, I have no real ideas about names. Maybe something about being analogue, since we can all remember a time before life was digital (or indeed virtual)?

Up here in Canada also it has long been noted that a lot of the media is heavily dominated by influence from the US.

Well, yes, but I meant more - if for example you picked something like MTV generation - well, for so many of us in other parts of the world, that's irrelevant. MTV never existed in any country I've lived in.

You can perhaps choose a similar kind of name that you would think might exemplify this generation.
