Good evening, all.

I'm a bit down right now, and as a result, I've not been online much. I had a very, very, very close friend who seemed to start to pull away about 6 months ago. I confess that in my hurt, I backed off (I'm an introvert and have low self-esteem, so I'm not one to force someone's interest anyway) and let her distance herself from me. My daughter asked how I was doing the other day, and I mentioned that it seems "official" that our friendship is over. She encouraged me to "confront" my friend; if nothing else, it would confirm that she has moved on. So early this week, I wrote an e-mail, telling her how I was hurt and how that hurt caused me to not contest the distance it seemed that she was putting between us, apologizing for not "fighting" for our friendship, asking her to forgive me for "letting" the distance grow, asking what, if anything, I did to cause the distance, etc. So far, I haven't heard anything. I thought I had come to grips with the state of our friendship, but this new "rejection" has brought the pain back fresh and new.

I am so sorry Kathy. I pray that you will get an answer soon and that God will give you peace no matter what happens. Good friends are so hard to come by and it is sad to lose one.

I will be praying Treys~~
over the years I have discovered its not intentional~~its just life happens~~everyone is so busy its become hard to maintain relationships and it has been holiday time~~so people have been even more busy and traveling.
I have several friends where we can only touch base once in awhile~~we will be friends and care about each other forever~~but we all have busy different lives to be able to connect consistantly.

Just saw this miggs and being an old Bette Davis fan...I have to interject a couple of comments.

Not long ago I sent for a very old B/W film starring Bette Davis and Charles Boyer. It is based upon a once very popular book (in the 40's...long before most of us were even reading books or maybe even born... called All This and Heaven Too. The book is better than the film because the author, Rachel Field, was so good. (also wrote Time Out of Mind and And Now Tomorrow.)

Bette plays a good person in this film (not like Of Human Bondage, What ever Happened to Baby Jane, and her meanist roles...The Little Foxes and Jezabel.)

It is based on events in the life of Rachel Field's great aunt who was involved in a murder trial in France before the turn of the century. She is proven innocent and Bette plays this heroine to the hilt of perfection.

I had seen most of her films over the years...Dark Victory...being one of my favorites as was Hush, Hush, Sweet Charlotte (in that one Olivia DeHaviland just about steals the movie though) They were best friends in real life.

Anyway, as you can see I can go on and on about Bette--an actress who set a high mark in screen performances this past century.

TreysNana, Sorry that you're feeling down.. It is good that you emailed her.. you have made the attempt to discover what the problem was.. it just may be that life was pulling her in another direction.. perhaps it was nothing that you did at all.. but an issue of her own.. I pray that you will hear from her soon..

Ooooh, I too am a Bette Davis fan (I prefer the old B&W's to most of today's movies). I am sure that I've seen that movie but would love to see it again and even add it to my collection. Thanks for reminding me of it.

Thanks to everyone for your kind words and prayers. I am feeling better today.

We were just *so* close; I'm an introvert and have low self-esteem, so I don't make many friends, but the friendships I do have have always been extremely close.

We used to tease each other that we were twins separated at birth; people at church would call us by each other's names. We live just 3-4 houses away from her and her husband and attend the same church. We would vacation together and had a standing date for Friday nights -- as well as our annual outing for dinner and shopping between Christmas and New Year's (this is the first year that we didn't have our outing, so I'm sure that has contributed to the sadness in missing her).

So sorry you are going through this. I went through that about 15 years ago or more with my very closest friend. That was so hurtful. She pulled completely away and I have not heard from her since then. She was going through many life changes and I wasn't part of that life. I still miss her and pray for her. I pray that you and your dear friend will be able to patch things up, becoming even closer than before. Friendships are invaluable, as you know. Remember that there are many here at the Nest who love you and would never guess you are an introvert. You are special TreysNana!!!

Hi Kathy, a belated but happy welcome to the CF and to GE's. Always good to meet someone who remembers and apreciates the old B/W flicks.

I lost a very, very good friend (but yours might not be lost)...over 25 years ago. We were so close but then after I got closer to the Lord and started to reach out, minister more with other Christians who weren't in our denomination (then) ...she turned away from me. Just nothing I could do would ever change it. Wrote notes (no email back then) and called to invite her out or to talk. She wouldn't come to the phone even. It was devastating and even mutual friends just couldn't get her to reconsider or change. I held on and felt it could change for some years until one day I looked around and realized that my life had really changed for the better and I had grown so much since I suffered the loss of the friendship. What was missing was restored by the Lord who gave me many more close friends over these years, who I may have never met if I had spent as much time with my old friend like I did once. I did pray for her a lot and still remember her and the years we shared with great affection and love. We live thousands of miles apart now...and life has gone on in different directions for both of us.

Sometimes it is hard to know the why's but He has it all in His hands.

Also lost a lifelong friend two years ago. She died unexpectedly and suddenly. I know she is with the Lord, but I will always miss her. We were friends 57 years. A gift...

The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away...blessed be the name of the Lord.

Hello all! I feel like I have been gone a long time. Moving sure takes it out of you or me I should say. I do not have the time to go back over all of the posts like I use to (too many) but welcome to all the new people. The more the merrier that is for sure and hello to all my old and dear friends. I will pray for some of you that seem to be experiencing difficult times right now and will rejoice with those of you experiencing a blessing, of course blessings are often disguised.
