I am now in "getting ready for company" mode for Saturday.
Due to health issues I have to start early so not to overexert myself.
Two couples (both husbands are elders) and two singles are coming over.
This month I am making the dessert - a frozen cherry dessert.
I picked the red dessert in honor of Valentine's Day.

I will respect your wishes and talk about something else but i thank you for sharing.
Now I can pray more specifically.
Whether you realize it at the moment or not...God really and truly answers prayer.
Not always the way we expect Him too,
but He really listens and He gives us His peace in return.
When we cast our burdens upon Him, we are relieved.

If you can't do that yet, it's okay...you are not alone anymore.
We will surround you with love, plain ol' fun stuff
and most importantly our prayers.

When I joined this forum I was having chest pains from all the stress I was going through.
After a few days, I already started to feel better.

You have come to the right place Birdie.
I send you my warmest wishes, hugs and friendship.

When I joined CF [and GE50+ especially...]
I had [the year before] just come through to the end of a '30 years marriage'
I had become very-ill [nine years previous] and this 'illness'
was apparently the undoing of my spouse's dreams for her future

A very good friend [Sister] brought me to the site [introduced me]
and my experience was, so very-similar to, Yvie's

For here, was a 'place' ~one, that would enable me
to stand [sit] as the person I am and actually encourage others [in faith]

We... ALL OF US, have 'a purpose...'
a reason for being, just the person that we are
a destiny.... a future outcome [?] which cannot be presently envisaged [seen]

I myself have SEEN...just HOW... while, I was 'wrapped' in my own discomfort [?]
# Seeing ONLY my own disappointment, in a failing relationship
# The falling apart of intra/inter familial relationships
# My inability to PROVIDE for the upkeep of my family and our home
# The infidelity of my spouse [blatant]
# The parting with EVERYTHING achieved and acquired over many years of struggle and labour
AND being UNABLE to effect 'change, for the better'
That I had been left with NOTHING....
ie: nothing, but 'the shell' of my former self

The 'rats' had left the ship [to sink]

But here in GE50+... I found empathy and encouragement
His 'light' drove away those 'shadows' that had so depressed me
and HOPE was rekindled...

I also found, that because I was concerning myself with the welfare and comfort of others
I had begun to shelve my own difficulties, shortcomings, discomfort
and in doing so, I was was relieved of, having such concerns
_on a minute by minute 'basis'

The transformation I have experienced within myself
since 27th December 2006, is [I feel] nothing short-of, 'miraculous'

What is gone... is no-longer a weight I must carry

I have been 'set-free' to enjoy my days
and I do this, one day, at a time, reaching-out to others [in. MY WAY]

It makes me feel, that I am GIVING SOMETHING BACK
in-return, for the blessings I KNOW, I have been given...
For, the fellowship that His children give, to His Family Praise Him !! \o/

I got up at 3am...have a sore throat again...I got cold in the house yesterday. Boy, I would have a hard time in a colder climate...LOL.

Stay warm and rest up ...I hope you feel better soon

Here is a recent shot of my Eric...shooting a close up of the "gum" wall in San Luis Obispo, ca...both walls of this alley are covered with wads of gum...yuck.

where the consultant examined me and agreed the need for my second inguineal hernia repair
He said I would "receive an appointment in the post"
and that I should continue 'reducing it when it pops out'

We were only away from home for two hours, so all in all, it was a very-quick 'round trip'

It seems to me that our health service is sort of 'overloaded/ congested'
On the last occasion, I was dealt with very quickly
but had to wait for six weeks, on this occasion, for this preliminary examination

Oh well..... I am USED-TO 'waiting'..... All, in good time

When we remove SELF_ selfishness_ from our [present] equation
SOLITUDE flys away_
awareness of SELF_ is diminished within the mind
When, the mind, 'puts down' it's awareness
of the body_ and 'bandwidth' is refocussed_ externally
The INSIDE then obtains 'peace'

At first... these 'moments' are very brief [?] for, it is a 'new experience'

However, the 'escape' [respite] will be noticed [appreciated]
and the relief from constant awareness
of the sad and uncomfortable will be desired again [and again]

Doing something that you ENJOY DOING
means that it will receive yet-more of your attention than you are able to remain aware of
The more deeply engrossed you remain in this new pastime
the less you can remain engrossed in negative matters

~I began with photography... learning to drive a digital camera
to produce decent pictures... first time and most times, if, not-all times

To get good photos of local subjects [for lack of mobility reasons]
it was necessary to do some gardening...
just a little, at a time but, over many months...achieved a great deal, eventually

I have albums containing many many thousands of roses and other plants
Many of them, have been hosted away on internet sites
but as I now have 1Tb of external storage [locally]
I am able to begin cataloguing, in ways I hadn't dreamed of, previously

I have a wide range of eclectic experience..
gathered over some 60+ years of, conscious 'self-awareness'
and from time to time, I read of others whom are giving me echoes of my past
I am able to respond to many of these and hopefully shine light onto their shadows
in an easy to understand textual way
The inward 'reflections' required to re-examine my past experiences
AGAIN becomes, 'a distraction' from my personal awareness [here and now]
while I concentrate afterwards on presenting 'illustrative representations'

I do hope your use of these 'insights' enables you to effectively render 'support' to others

I am coping very well, with reducing each and every excursion of my bowel
through my abdomen
Discomfort is, only very temporary and only inconvenient, insofar as it limits
my physical ability somewhat... But I do have Mary, a very willing aide
