CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I live in Washington State, and here is what has been going on around the West side (Seattle side) and the Oregon coast.
Well, the Washington coast had a Tsunami warning almost all morning and part of the afternoon; they were not sure how high the waves would get, but, I hear they did not get as high as expected. Now, the Oregon Coast, especially the South Oregon Coast, near Crescent City, DID have some large waves, some were close to 8 feet, Brookings Oregon and Crescent City got hit the worse, the marinas had a lot of damage as did the boats, and I believe a couple of lives were lost too due to the waves pulling them under. I understand that the Tsunami sirens were going off along the entire Oregon coast and all schools in those areas were closed as well. How dreadfully scary.
The area where I live, the East side of the mountain pass, was not affected, there are no coastal waters nearby, we are the "dry"side of the mountains so to speak.
Seattle is on a major fault, and an expert on earthquakes was on the Seattle news, and he said that fault is the same as the one that the city in Japan is on, and it is not "if" but "when" it happens, it will be devastation such as the area as never seen.
I have been very sad today, thinking about all those poor folks over in Japan, and all the folks that have been affected in Hawaii, Oregon and California, what a tragedy.
I have been keeping all these people in my thoughts and prayers today.

My thoughts and prayer are with the people of Japan and in other locations effected by the horrible earthquake and tsunami. Sadly, I doubt that we know how many families lost loved ones yet - the numbers continue to rise. I would ask that we all keep these people in our prayers.
