I was in facebook, earlier this afternoon
and whilst chatting with a niece over the content of some members posts,
that has led me to delete them from my friends list...
so that, young children [family members, mine and Mary's]
would not see the depravity and obscenities being published in my news feed
and because they too, are, in my friends list
My niece challenged me and my 'right' to deny people their right,
to behave as they wished
I did 'try' to get her to see that my pages were being despoiled against my wishes
but she and a nephew of mine...insisted that the adults were free to behave
as they wished and that it was the parents of the children [under 13]
that had responsibility to protect their children
[ "facebook is an adult site/no under 13's allowed" ]
My niece, accused me of dictating how she, should behave and told me
to "go preach elsewhere" [via message box] as soon as she had learned of,
her having been deleted from, my friends list
While we are, none of us, yet 'perfect' we do have-to [must] change,
whatever we can, for the better, we must not 'ignore' the evil that others do
when they do so, in full knowledge, that it is:
'naughty', 'wrong', 'anti-social', 'criminal', 'abusive' 'sinful'
Today, I removed 'three' family members [extended family] from my friends list
My daughter Miranda, who, remains able to read their status comments
urged me to rethink my decision,
but, after hearing me out did comfort me and told me that she loved me
and didn't want me to be upset, because of, them
Lord, I pray, that my actions today, will linger in the minds of those involved
that their thoughts and hearts be troubled that I have
taken such steps, to admonish their behaviour
and prevent their having adverse affect, upon not only the children
but also the adults able to read their posts
as a result of their friendship, with me
Lord, I ask that that you strengthen my wit and place your words upon my tongue,
such that your will and your purpose is fulfilled in me and in these persons
In Jesus' name, this I pray
amen
