I'm off to a bridal shower this morning. Should be a lovely day. I've known the bride since she was in elementary school. So nice to able to celebrate with her. The wedding is scheduled for April.

Michael, my prayers are with Linda for a quick recovery.

I've just come from outside to survey our damages from the winter storm. I give thanks that the damages are minor compared to most of my neighbors. I also give thanks that we still have electricity in my part of the city. My prayers are with thousands without electricity who have had to leave their homes for temporary shelter.

I also want to thank everyone for your prayers during this storm. For now, this storm appears to be over, but I heard on the news that people in other states are getting hit in the same way: ice, blizzards, winds. All of those people will be in my prayers.

Were you part of the huge snow storm in the virginia area and south?

I'm in Southwest Oklahoma. I doubt it's the same storm system. I did hear a news clip about Virginia, and it sounds like the same thing that happened here. I don't know if the same winter storm that hit us is still active somewhere or not. All I know is the winter storm that hit us devastated most of Oklahoma and parts of Texas. It was actually an ice storm with wind. The snow blizzard forecasted after the ice never materialized. I know one thing: I'd much rather deal with snow than ice.

Michael, hope Linda is feeling better.

357Magnum, hope the remnants of the storm are being cleared away. Prayers for safe travel.

Thanks all for the good wishes for the shower. I braved the ten degree weather and had a lovely time. The bride was blessed with gifts. She loves to cook and her kitchen will be well outfitted.

Things are still frozen here and pretty slow going, but we still have electricity and we're comfortable. God Willing, things may get warm enough tomorrow to melt some of the ice and make it safe enough to start cleanup. We had a freezing fog today that just added a glaze of more ice. One of our friends who will do most of the work said it was too dangerous right now, so we told him to wait. Slipping on the ice with a chain saw wouldn't be good.

I hope you are careful on the ice. I can't wait till Spring.

Thanks for your kind thoughts. I don't plan to do anything on the ice. I'll just have to leave that to younger folks who still have all of their parts working. :D

The most I've done is take some pictures for our insurance. One of our trees did hit our neighbors house and fence. It appears that our damage is loss of all trees and damage to our fence and patio cover, so we feel very fortunate. I've seen news clips of homes that suffered severe damage from falling trees, power poles, and power lines. They've had to open more shelters because of continuing power outages. Again, we feel very fortunate that we have electricity, and we have every reason to give thanks. We sincerely appreciate your prayers.

I'm glad you are not doing anything on the ice.

My days of doing much on ice is over. I'll just give thanks and pray for those who are still suffering from the results of winter storms. I understand that numerous parts of the country got hit pretty hard.

As of today, we still have 13,000 residents of my city still without electricity. The number is huge for the state, and it appears that some in rural areas still have weeks left to wait for electricity to be restored. My wife and I feel very blessed, and we give thanks.
