Thank you all for keeping me straight! I'll be on days the first week, and then will go to third shift. Of course, on third, I'll be on something like the Jewish day, in that I'll go in Sunday night at 10:00PM for my Monday shift...in short, it's always the day you're going into.

I got a job on the phone today, after being unemployed since December. This will be very similar to what I did two years ago, when I was contract at one of the "big three" automotive companies, as a janitorial supervisor, and then site manager.

This time around, another company has that contract, and I'll be a third shift supervisor for them. I'd rather work days, but, if I'm going to be on an off shift, it needs to be third. Second--which I would have done in order to go back to work--would be the worst possible shift for family, and church. And, the plant is only 1.5 miles from our apartment!

This was obviously the Lord. I applied to this company a month or more ago, got an acknowledgement, and then heard nothing. Then today, our daughter's boyfriend, who does similar work, was talking to them on the phone, and he recommended that they talk to me too. The hiring manager said that my background sounded interesting, but, that he didn't have my resume. Somehow, it never reached him.

So, we talked on the phone, and he asked me to email a resume to him. Then, he called back, and said that, while he had intended to interview me tomorrow, he was no longer going to do so. After a pause, he said, "instead, I'm going to just offer you the job right now!"

This is the first time I've ever gotten a job I didn't even interview for!

I wonder how Michael's first day at work is going?

This is a training week. The supervisors are training beside the janitors, which is a good thing for team building, and for experience with what our people will be doing. Supervisors will then go through additional training next week.

The day went well. We were in class inside in the morning, and then spent the afternoon outside, having everyone operate a forklift and a scissors lift.

I like the people, and have a good first impression of the company.
