  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Two billion seems unbelievable! Congrats!

Ehm . . I have a question about the Moderators for this portion of the forums. I've never seen any of them post here in the GE? Just curious . . .

((sincerely hopes I'm not smited for asking, lol))

How's your weather? We have 70's and humid. We suppose to get some rain this weekend from Ike. I hope your out of harms way.
We may get very heavy rains out of it. Our weather is very humid right now too. It was 84 at 9:00 still. Houston is an area of big concern right now. I think one million have been told to evacuate. I am praying that it weakens. The last I heard they think it may only come in as a Category 2 which would be better than predicted.:groupray:

We live right of the mountains so wild life activity is nothing new. Bears, deer, coyotes, racoons and skunks. Even occaisionally a cougar (mountain lion they are bad news). However, there does seem to be more bear activity at the moment though. No reports of any thing bad happening her in North Vancouver but a few municipalities over there was an attack. The bear was killed the woman is ok. And over on Saltspring Island in the Gulf coast there was a very bizarre attack yesterday. This is quite far from us but yesterday a bear actually went into a mans boat and ignored the fish and attacked him. He was eventually killed by people that rallied to the scene only letting go after it died. The man actually walked away from the scene. INTO AN AMBULANCE OF COURSE THOUGH I assume he will be fine once they patch up the puncture wounds and fill him with Antibiotics etc. They figure the bear was disease.

No, of course you won't be smited, lol. Moderators do try to post, but often are overwhelmed with reports. I'm experiencing this myself...I try to come here at least sometimes, because I have such dear friends in this forum, people whose friendship I cherish...but sometimes it's hard.

If you have a question for the moderators, though, you can click onto one of their names and send a PM. In my experience they are very kind and very helpful...yes, they have to act when things get out of hand--I've experienced that--but their purpose is to protect the forums and to protect the people who post here. Recently for example CF has been hit by a lot of trolls, one of whom was planting viruses. Also CF gets people who seem to hate Christians, and do their best to post awful things against our God and against His people. The mods are there to deal with that. If ever you see something like that, report that post--they will take care of it.

Be blessed today my dear friends!

Wow, Jan, I worry when I hear that. I will be praying for my Canadian neighbors.

BTW the weather has been awesome I have even been tanning on my deck.

Such irony! We had more than SIX INCHES of rain yesterday, and school has been canceled because of flooding. The sky was gray all day. This, on the western high plains of Texas, just below the panhandle. LOL.

More rain is expected--hurricane remnants. My concern right now is for Houston and the Gulf Coast. My son, his wife and daughter had to evacuate. She is expecting a baby by C-section next week, I am very concerned.

Bless you for your kind explanation, Ariel! Yes, I rather figured that was their purpose, having been one on another board, but I had just thought they would be selected from folks who were active on the area they now Mod. Perhaps they were at some point. I do appreciate the work they do, knowing it's not much fun sometimes.

 Yayyy to autumn tanning, Jan! I heard it may get hot again here next week, though I work too late in the afternoon to get out tanning. Have fun!

I just read that they've decided NOT to order Houston evacuated. While I understand their reasoning, it still makes me wonder if that's the right decision. All the more impetus for praying for those in the path of the storm!

Yes I'm with you Worddancer praying is important.:prayer:
And Ariel don't worry we are very careful and it is very unusual for black bears to attack.:)The thing that bugs me about the one that attacked the man in his boat is that unusual bear activity had been reported for a few weeks and no one did anything. :confused:I guess they don't like to interfere but when the animals get that bold (they had been coming on the dock and into uninhabited boats) it is cause for concern. I understand the bears wanting to get into the garbage so we try to keep it inside until the morning of pickup.

Missdancerama it is nice that you pop in so faithfully. Hope you aren't working too hard. Stay and chat awhile. I am looking forward to a warm and relaxing Weekend.(apart from catching up on housework) It has been a busy but productive week at work and I think I am going to enjoy my schedule this year. I am working with the LD kids more than the kids on modified programs so it is a bit more stressful but I can handle it. Cheers Jan

Shall it be called ADVANCEMENT / the NEXT STEP ?
I really am not sure, how best to describe, the experiences
I am presently witnessing
since, I downloaded the IE 8 Beta 2 release [this morning]

The NEW browser has altered my view of the internet
in exponential ways that have little in common with IE7
Of course, it has included within it ALL past tools
with which we have become familiar

The links-bar atop the browser window includes tabs for my favourite forums
along with spaces and my mailboxes and windows marketplace

The news channels page provides short headers and thumbnails for their links
and this means that the news media can be displayed ALMOST full screen
and easy reselection of links to worldwide providers are right on hand

TABS are still available, providing many instant-access doorways to news and entertainment

If, I have any concerns, at present, i would have-to point-out
that my keyboard control of the screen pointer
ditto, my mouse-pointing, is a little 'sticky' / 'after the fact'
Indeed my mouse cannot change the position of the text pointer
'onscreen' at this moment

The service provided by the new browser is commendably quicker/ more responsive
This doubtless because all utilities are by WINDOWS LIVE ie: live search live-mail and live-messenger

Once I have found my way around/ gained some experience with IE8
I will come back here and report my findings to you all

The layout is very familiar, but as soon as you light something up
You JUST KNOW, this is NOT IE7 as we know it
