Good afternoon all. Hope your weekend is going well. KittyStorm and Ben are here for the weekend. She just fixed the other computer here so we both can be online at the same time. So, NO MORE FIGHTING OVER THE COMPUTER!

I am presently experiencing difficulties with my OS
Perhaps, because I have detailed HOW I set up and run my computer
someone has managed to walk around the obstacles

It seems that my OS has been compromised by trusted outside sources

It's effects are

that I can no-longer use my restore facility
iow...
past restore points are not displayed and not accessible
I can no-longer add/ remove programs
and my tracking systems tell me I have spyware and a trojan

attempts to remove them will, COST MONEY

I will detail my experiences... when I am again SORTED
this, to assist others to deal with similar problems

Hi missdance'

Here is an update to my problem

Using a downloaded 30 Day Free Trial of an Anti Spyware program

I have been able to locate the Trojan and also had it quarantined
The offender was named as:
Windows\system32\CbE vtSvc.exe Trojan: W32/Tibs.CTEM

The problems I have with my Restore Facility
is attributed to:
Backdoor Agent.awq System Volume Information\ restore[E6F8...A0001211.dll]

which has very-probably replaced the genuine files

I have yet to learn whether the genuine files have been hidden or, removed


Will keep you up-to-date on my progress



I was recently invited to join MySpace.com [US based meeting place]
by a member

Some of the utilities for enhancing one's 'space'
is provided by MYWEBSEARCH ..... and in particular WEBFETTI

This has proved to be very persistent and has defeated all attempts [thus far]
to uninstall it ... to delete it's components
and very probably was the CARRIER of both
the Trojan and the restore settings inhibitor

STAY AWAY from MySpace.com is my best advice

Thanks for the warning. I've only joined 2 other forums besides CF. I don't think I'll be joining any others since I barely have the time now. I hope you get your problems fixed. Maybe Kittystorm or her hubby could help you some how. Her husband teaches and he knows a lot about computer stuff.

I can assure you that I will be doing all that I can
to rid my computer of these 'nasties' and yes thank you for your offer

Kittystorm hooked up a router so now the old computer I had put upstairs for my grandson to play his games now will be able to have internet so she will be able to be online at the same time as I am. That way we don't fight to get to the computer everytime she comes to my home. I would never be able to do that myself.
