  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I have yet to enter Tennesse for the first time, so I guess I also missed the Knoxville Eposition...

Springrain, keeping you in prayer!

Just a quick P.S. on World's Fairs. Growing up close to NY got to go to the 1964 World's Fair several times and what a thrill it was. Still pass the Unisphere -- the big globe that was built and remains -- often. Also went to Expo '67 in Montreal with my parents and had a wonderful time and also a World's Exposition in Knoxville, in (I think) 1982. Does anyone else remember the Knoxville Fair?

We've been to Branson, Mo several times. They have some great shows and theme parks. It's only about a 4 hour drive for us.

Hey Jan and Annie, my laptop started up
again twice today.........it is amazing yes? Although I must begin immediately to prepare for the financial savings to allow for a new one in the near nuture maybe.

My choice of words to include a "spanking" of course were for dramatic entertainment...actually I made a fist and gave it good pounding........LOL

Annie, I am in full agreement with you regarding "spanking" of children.

Tom and I arrive here after midnight. Today we went to the hospital to visit "Grandma" this is my mother-in-law. We had a quick introduction into the situation as it is. Have you heard of Sundowners Syndrom....this is totally new to me. I have so much to learn and it starts now. It is so sad to see this woman I have always loved hallucinating and wanting me to take her home. The hospital is not ready to release her yet so I have a little time here to get ready, which includes freshening up her bedroom, including carpets.

Jan, Missouri is a lovely state full of big Oak Trees mostly but steamy with hot humidity and I got a tic during the first 24 hours here.

Miss says "Welcome Home" yes there is a lot of life and memories here and it is much easier to look them in the face and say...this is not about me...it is not about the past..it is about doing something beautiful for God. And for sure it is not home to me....for being with my Heavenly Father is the only home I yearn to go to eventually.

Annie, I will be thinking of you come September when the Puyallup is in full swing. There is a nice entertainment center in Missouri called Branson....has anybody been there? The shows are GREAT. We went there only once but it was memorable...Tom and I rode jet skies on the lake and it was thrilling. OH yes, forgot to tell you...The Ozarks was our honeymoon location some 43 years ago. Now I'm lucky to get dinner out LOL

Edit: and yet another tic....SOL (screaming out loud)

This one is right on the point Bro Dave! Thanks!

Hi y'all... I received this email Mary got from her friend last-evening

You may have had this b4 love
Subject:
Fw: Beautiful Photos Why God allows pain

This is one of the best explanations of why God allows pain and suffering that I have seen...
a1.jpg

A man went to a barbershop to have his hair cut and his beard trimmed.

As the barber began to work, they began to have a good conversation.
They talked about so many things and various subjects.
When they eventually touched on the subject of God,
the barber said: "I don't believe that God exists."
a2.jpg

Why do you say that?" asked the customer.
"Well, you just have to go out in the street to realize that God doesn't exist.
Tell me, if God exists, would there be so many sick people?
Would there be abandoned children?
a3.jpg

If God existed, there would be neither suffering nor pain.
I can't imagine a loving God who would allow all of these things."

The customer thought for a moment,
but didn't respond because he didn't want to start an argument.
The barber finished his job and the customer left the shop.
a4.jpg

after he left the barbershop, he saw a man in the street
with long, stringy, dirty hair and an untrimmed beard.
He looked dirty and unkempt.
The customer turned back
and entered the barber shop again and he said to the barber:
You know what? Barbers do not exist."
How can you say that?" asked the surprised barber.
I am here, and I am a barber. And I just worked on you!"
No!" the customer exclaimed. "Barbers don't exist because if they did, there would be no people with dirty long hair and untrimmed beards, like that man outside."
a5.jpg

Ah, but barbers DO exist! That's what happens when people do not come to me."
Exactly!" affirmed the customer. "That's the point! God, too, DOES exist!
That's what happens when people do not go to Him and don't look to Him for help.
That's why there's so much pain and suffering in the world."
a6.jpg

If you think God exists, send this to other people---
If you think God does not exist, delete it!
a7.jpg

BE BLESSED & BE A BLESSING TO OTHERS !!!!!!!

"You can learn new things at any time in your life if you're willing to be a beginner.
If you actually learn to like being a beginner, the whole world opens up to you."

Don't worry about registering as a "charity" with anyone else, just as long as you have God's charity pouring out from you onto all of your friends as you already do!

We had a visit from the local council gas contractor today

He came to inspect our Gas facilities > to see if, they complied-with
the latest gas safety standards

LOL.... he condemned our gas cooker/ disconnected it from the supply
and stuck a notice to it DO NOT USE.... FAULTY / DANGEROUS

So! the burners WERE a little-melted in places

anyway we just have microwaves for our cooking here at the moment :(
I will have to build a barbecue in the back garden for boiling veggies/ rice

We have had a look at cookers in the shop today
£300 / $600 for fairly modest ones too

:(:(

I may have to register myself as a charity :D:D:D:D:D:D

DAVE....here is a little cooker that packs a big surprise....NOT A SLOW COOKER.....it can boil faster than a gas range and it comes with an optional fry basket. I bought one for $24.00 US dollars and I cook just about everything anything, even that lovely chicken curry. We started using one of these, when our propane gas price more than doubled. I may buy a second one.

Hello all. We use our slowcooker alot. It's great. I get everything in the pot in the morning and put it on low and by the time we get home its dinner time.

Good for you Miss, I envy you morning folks who can get these taskes done. I like any kind of food that is stewed with a combination of ingredients. The only thing I ever ruined badly in a crockpot was stuffed peppers. I used raw rice in the meat stuffing and it just didnt want to get cooked through before my husband was yammering to eat. I do cook them to perfection however in this quick cooker (link) with lots and lots of stewed tomatos. Sounds yummy doesn't it??????????

Awww Springy Sis'

Mary bought us a crockpot slow cooker about 1 month to six weeks ago
and, it can be turned UP... to be, NOT SO-SLOW

Photo in a while!

When I arrived here, last July, I brought with me my microwave oven
with it's integral Fan Assist and browning grill ;)
It is virtually unused because Mary already had one
that she, INSISTED was "perfectly serviceable" :D

"Okay! okay! we will use your's Mary....." LOL

and here we are NEEDING THEM :)

Boiled potatoes are no problem ....
we can do 'jackets' in the microwave and strip them after cooking
that said Mary 'enjoys' jackets, with, their clothes on [me NOT]

We do, have microwave cooking containers [steamers?]
so matchstick carrots, onions and greens CAN still be-cooked also

I have steamed, chicken breasts in a microwave [recently]
and have yet, to attempt braising under it's grill
[I'll let you know all about my efforts with the NEW FANGLED :D]

Roses have budded and begun to open in the backgarden

Rain these past days has made it too wet out there
to complete the tying-down of the fencing mesh
that will prevent Teddy traipsing over the plantings [when done]

que sera!

This..... is still my present connection > it hasnt been switched from ORANGE to Talk-Talk .... Y E T
but Today is ... THE DAY!!!

It is now 10.20 am Tuesday

I have just had a phone call from the Resource Centre
The Ceramics class-leader, 'Rita' won't be in today
so the class is 'called-off' until next week

I will have to find 'something-else' to keep my mind busy today ???

:D:D:D

You may get to see LOTS of 'me' today

your Bro'

Hi missdancerama spring dave et all. It is a rainly day here also dave but I shall be inside at the school so should be unbothered by it. At least we don't have to water the lawn which is growing thick and lush. It is my hubby's pride and joy. I am priviledged to live in a very beautiful spot and I want to get busy and post some pictures soon. Not now though I have to scoot off for a few hours of intellectual labour. LOL Jan

Hi Jan

Your 'talk' of lush and verdant pasture
reminds me of, our front garden 'PIC later'

The RAIN....... eased off [here] just after lunch
but, it isnt DRY enough
to go and sort the back garden further [today]

Besides, what-with, the 'time' I have spent
sorting our connection, after waiting
for the talktalk technicians 'success'
in completing the broadband set-up [at their end]
seems to have limited me, as to 'what-else'
that I can now, get on with

Tonight, is OUR SECOND night, without our gas cooker
thus I am thinking
to do Sausages in the George Forman
and potatoes and beans in the Microwave

Regarding the cooker.... I have phoned the Social Fund [dept]
of our Social Security and appraised them re: our cooker being condemned
They, are sending me a form, upon which I can claim a GRANT
or, an Interest Free Loan....
to help purchase, an unplanned-for, exceptionally-expensive item

Once, they have the form, they say, that they
will make a decision within ten days,
as to whether, we, will receive a GRANT
which we will not have to repay
or, will be given a LOAN...
which, will be deducted 'weekly' from our income, AT-SOURCE

Isn't LIFE 'fun' ?????

dave

BELOW

How... the burners are supposed to be and

BELOW THAT

The reason for the condemnation

Hello all.Sorry about the gas stove problem Dave but it sounds like you have lots of alternatives. The weather has been wonderful here I hope it lasts awhile before the humidity sets in.I did something to a disk in my back. The pain runs from my back down the left leg. Ouch, it is painful. Nothing that time will not heal. Now who has the time. LOLHmmmm, my smilies don't seem to be working.

Hi Ley it is still pretty rainy here too so we have something in common. I have never had a green house but my friend has and starts all her garden flower and veggies in there. She is an amazing gardner. I manage my houseplants but that is all. My bulbs came up but did not flower.(tulips daffodils etc) Anyone know why? I did plant them late and in pots not in the ground.
