  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

another email [this evening] contained this:

PLEASE SEND BACK

YOU WILL UNDERSTAND WHY

Ruth went to her mail box
and there was only one letter.

She picked it up and looked
at it before opening, but then she looked at the envelope again.

There was no stamp, no postmark, only her name and address.

She read the letter:

Dear Ruth,

I'm going to
be in your neighborhood Saturday afternoon and I'd like to stop by for a
visit.

Love Always,
Jesus

Her hands were shaking
as she placed the letter on the table.
"Why would the Lord want to visit
me?

I'm nobody special.
I don't have anything to offer."

With that thought, Ruth remembered her empty kitchen cabinets.

"Oh my goodness, I really don't have anything to offer. I'll have to run down to the store and buy something for dinner."

She reached for her purse and counted out its contents. Five dollars and forty cents.

Well, I can get some bread and cold cuts, at
least."

She threw on her coat and hurried out the door.

A loaf of French bread, a half-po und of sliced turkey, and a carton of milk... leaving Ruth with a grand total of twelve cents to last
her until Monday.

Nonetheless, she felt good as she headed
home, her meager offerings tucked under her arm.

"Hey lady,
can you help us, lady?"

Ruth had been so absorbed in her dinner
plans, she hadn't even noticed two figures huddled in the alleyway.

A man and a woman, both of them dressed in little more than rags.

"Look lady, I ain't got a job, ya know, and my wife and I have been living out here on the street, and, well, now it's getting cold and we're getting kinda hungry and, well, if you could help us.
Lady, we'd really appreciate it."

Ruth looked at them both.

They were dirty, they smelled bad and frankly, she was certain that they could get some kind of work if they really wanted to.

"Sir, I'd like to help you, but I'm a poor woman myself. All I have is a few cold cuts and some bread, and I'm having an important guest for dinner tonight and I was planning on serving that to Him."

"Yeah, well, okay lady, I understand. Thanks anyway."

The man put his arm around the woman's shoulders, turned and headed back into the alley.

As she watched them leave, Ruth felt a familiar twinge in her heart.

"Sir, wait!"

The couple stopped and turned as
she ran down the alley after them.

"Look, why don't you take this food.
I'll figure out something else to serve my guest."

She handed the man her grocery bag.

"Thank you lady.
Thank you very much!"

"Yes, thank you!" It was the man's wife,
and Ruth could see now that she was shivering.

"You know, I've got another coat at home.

Here, why don't you take this one."

Ruth unbuttoned her jacket and slipped it over the woman's shoulders.

Then smiling, she turned and walked back to the street...without her coat and with nothing to serve her guest.

"Thank you lady!

Thank you very much!"

Ruth was chilled by the time she reached her front door, and worried too.

The Lord was coming to visit and she didn't have anything to offer Him.

She fumbled through her purse for the door key. But as she did, she noticed another envelope in her mailbox.

"That's odd. The mailman doesn't usually come twice in one day."

Dear Ruth:

It was so good to see you again.

Thank you for the lovely meal.

And thank you, too, for the beautiful coat.

Love Always,
Jesus

The air was still cold, but even without her coat, Ruth no longer noticed.

If you love Jesus, send this to ten people
Do not keep this message.

The mantra must leave your hands within 96
hours.

You will get a very pleasant surprise.

This is true, even if you are not superstitious.

Very good things will happen to everyone that touches this story.

Thank you Lee

and a very good afternoon to you from here

It's grey outside..
ALL GREY... no blue at all
the wind is squally ...
the ground in the garden is saturated from the rain ON/OFF all-night

But.... It's the Lord's day everyday by me
so SMILE..... His will be done

Somehow....
I have this extra-skin/ hide
> 'armour' ????????????

Little. effects me
in a downward way anymore
and so it has been for some while now

Perhaps.... I have GIVEN UP on 'worrying'

alt. CONCERN for things
that I cannot control is so futile....
such a waste of emotion /one's life

We, have a choice [?]

we, can enjoy our-blessings or,
we can REGRET... all of our failed-attempts

I have, no fear of, Death [truly]
It's the dying [LIVING] that is/ can be, so-painful
Death, is painless [in-truth]

I see my end...
similar to PAY PARADE in the army
am stood to -attention within the ranks
and await my name to be called
EVENTUALLY it WILL BE CALLED
and I will then break-rank and STEP-UP SMARTLY
for mine [?]

This 'new-outlook'
has a 'cushion-effect' upon me
perhaps.... it has a name
similar-to the ARMOUR OF GOD

I am in no-hurry TO BE out of here [at-all]
for it's NOT down-to-me
WHEN, this should occur

I haven't given-up smoking......
Mary went out in the rain just now
to fetch some shopping for a neighbour [Jackie]
and also fetched me, some more tobacco
as my supply was getting low

I have started in the bathroom now [decorating]
ie: since the plumber from the council
sorted our leak problems
I could have done it myself... but it IS
their responsibility after-all
[IT IS, what we pay them for... to maintain their property]

How are you and your's today Sis ?
I hope and pray
that you get a good helping
of, joy and happiness too

your Bro'

I've experienced that too--multiple demands on our fnances, especially when we've just made a commitment to the Lord. Could this be a form of demonic attack? Sometimes I think it is. And yes, there have been times when my husband and I have rebuked every work of the enemy against our finances and cried out to God for help. God is so amazing--we saw Him move.

So here is my best advice. Be obedient to God regarding your finances as much as you can. He does honor those who honor Him, and those who honor the poor. Second, rebuke the devourer off your resources and command the attack of the enemy to cease in Jesus' name. Remember that God also says He will rebuke the devourer for our sake as we obey Him regarding our finances, Malachi 3:11. It is one of the few places in Scripture where God says He will do warfare for us instead of expecting us to do it ourselves, Eph. 6:10-18.

Remember you are loved. Your God loves you. As you cry out to Him, He will hear.

I am praying for you, dear one!

Hi everyone especially Spudgramma. Hi Spring and Ariel and Dave and Ley and where o where is jim?

You are so correct Ariel and how wonderful that Ley has the same inspiration. I do believe that is what I have been under as there have been several things hitting us at once not just the financial stuff. Anyway I do realize that the enemy of my soul and my family wants to rob us of our joy so I am praying.

After a very rocky Thursday evening, we ended up having a wonderful fellowship at our house Friday evening. Not everyone i thought would come showed up but we had a terrific mix of young and old. around 25 I think, the youngest 8 oldest 94 it was lovely. Ane the house has never looked lovlier thanks to the hard work of my youngest with the lights and my hubby with the housework and my candles.
My oldest son was able to replace the brake pads yesterday for a fraction of the cost it would have been otherwise. So PTL. We still haven't had a chance to test them yet.

This is long but another nice thing was it snowed, really snowed yesterday so it didn't impact people coming to the party Friday but we are enjoying a beautiful early white christmas. That is what it felt like yesterday because when it snows in Vancouver at least initially we don't go out. It is too hilly and too slippery. So I made fudge puttered and watched THE Grinch. LOL.

Hello all!

Spring, dear one, I am so happy to hear that you are up and about! Praise God!

Jan, I've gone through some of those attacks. I empathize. But I know you will come through, because your God is your provider, and He is more than enough. It sounds like you had a very blessed time of fellowship. Something more to praise God for!

Dave, you continue to bless me and many others. Thank you so much!

As I prayed this morning, something that was so strong on my heart was this: Jesus came to set the captives free. It is not His will for us to be in bondage to anything or anyone. He came to set us free. Cry out to Him, because He is mighty, and He is faithful to deliver.

We are more than conquerors!

Hello and good morning to you all from Manchester in England

I got this in my email this morning
It is a lovely story,
of, empathy, compassion and seasonal goodwill

The message asks, that I send it to four-people
but, I know, that, by bringing it here
many many more than that will SEE it

> On Christmas Eve

> > In September 1960,
I woke up one morning
with six hungry babies and
just 75 cents in my pocket.

> > Their father was gone.

> > The boys ranged from
three months to seven years;
their sister was two.

> > Their Dad had never been
much more than
a presence they feared.

> > Whenever they heard
his tires crunch on the gravel driveway they would scramble to hide
under their beds.

> > He did manage to leave $15 a week
to buy groceries.

> > Now that he had decided to leave, there would be no more beatings, 0
but no food either.

> > If there was a welfare system in effect in southern Indiana at that time,
I certainly knew nothing about it.

> > I scrubbed the kids
until they looked brand new
and then put on my best homemade dress, loaded them into the rusty old 51 Chevy and drove off to find a job.

> > The seven of us
went to every factory, store and restaurant in our small town.

> > No luck.

> > The kids stayed crammed
into the car and tried to be quiet
while I tried to convince
who ever would listen that I was willing
to learn or do anything.
I had to have a job.

> > Still no luck.
The last place we went to,
just a few miles out of town,
was, an old Root Beer Barrel drive-in
that had been converted to a truck stop.

> > It was called the Big Wheel.
An old lady named Granny
owned the place and she peeked out
of the window from time to time
at all those kids.

> > She needed someone on the graveyard shift, 11 at night
until seven in the morning.

> > She paid 65 cents an hour, and
I could start that night.

> > I raced home and called
the teenager down the street
that baby-sat for people.

> > I bargained with her
to come and sleep on my sofa
for a dollar a night.

> > She could arrive with her pajamas on and the kids would already be asleep

> > This seemed like a good arrangement to her, so we made a deal.

> > That night when the little ones and I knelt to say our prayers,
we all thanked God
for finding Mommy a job.
And so I started at the Big Wheel.

> > When I got home in the mornings
I woke the baby-sitter up and sent her home with one dollar of my tip money-- fully half of what I averaged every night.

> > As the weeks went by, heating bills added a strain to my meager wage.

> > The tires on the old Chevy had the consistency of penny balloons
and began to leak. I had to fill them
with air on the way to work
and again every morning
before I could go home.
> >
> > One bleak fall morning, I dragged myself to the car to go home
and found four tires in the back seat.
New tires!

> > There was no note, no nothing,
just those beautiful brand new tires.

> > Had angels taken up residence
in Indiana ? I wondered.

> > I made a deal
with the local service station.

> > In exchange for his mounting
the new tires, I would clean up his office.

> > I remember it took me a lot longer
to scrub his floor than it did
for him to do the tires.

> > I was now working six nights
instead of five and it still wasn't enough.

> > Christmas was coming
and I knew there would be no money
for toys for the kids.

> > I found a can of red paint
and started repairing and painting
some old toys. Then I hid them
in the basement so there would be something for Santa to deliver
on Christmas morning.

> > Clothes were a worry too.
I was sewing patches on top of patches
on the boys pants and soon
they would be too far gone to repair.

> > On Christmas Eve the usual customers
were drinking coffee in the Big Wheel.

> > There were the truckers, Les, Frank, and Jim, and a state trooper named Joe.

> > A few musicians were hanging around after a gig at the Legion
and were dropping nickels
in the pinball machine.

> > The regulars all just sat around
and talked through the wee hours
of themorning and then left to get home before the sun came up.

> > When it was time for me to go home
at seven o'clock on Christmas morning,
to my amazement, my old battered
Chevy was filled full to the top
with boxes of all shapes and sizes.

> > I quickly opened the driver's side door, crawled inside and kneeled in the front
facing the back seat.

> > Reaching back, I pulled off
the lid of the top box.

> > Inside was whole case
of little blue jeans, sizes 2-10!

> > I looked inside another box:
It was full of shirts to go with the jeans.

> > Then I peeked inside
some of the other boxes.
There was candy and nuts and
bananas and bags of groceries.
There was an enormous ham for baking, and canned vegetables and potatoes.
There was pudding and Jell-O and cookies, pie filling and flour.
There was a whole bag of laundry supplies and cleaning items.

> > And there were five toy trucks and one beautiful little doll.

> > As I drove back through empty streets as the sun slowly rose on
the most amazing Christmas Day of my life, I was sobbing with gratitude.

> > And I will never forget the joy
on the faces of my little ones
that precious morning.

> > Yes, there were angels in Indiana
that long-ago December. And they all
hung out at the Big Wheel truck stop....

Merry Christmas everybody

dave

God Bless!

What a wonderful story dave thanks for sharing. Iread a similar testimony in my most recent copy of Guideposts magazine. It is great when God moves through His children to bless others. Jan

Subject: Fwd: a pastor with guts

This Pastor Has Guts
and may the Good Lord Bless his ministries

It seems prayer still upsets some

people. Please read....

When

Minister Joe Wright
was asked to open the new session of the Kansas Senate,
everyone was expecting the usual generalities, but
this is what they heard;

"Heavenly Father,

We come before you today

to ask for your forgiveness and

to seek your direction and guidance.

We know Your Word says,

"Woe to those who call evil good"

But that is exactly what we have done.

We have lost our spiritual equilibrium

and reversed our values.

We have exploited the poor

And called it the lottery.

We have rewarded laziness

And called it welfare.

We have killed our unborn

and called it choice.

We have shot abortionists

and called it justifiable.

We have neglected to discipline our children

And called it building self esteem.

We have abused power

And called it politics.

We have coveted our neighbor's Possessions

and called it ambition.

We have polluted the air with profanity and Pornography

and called it Freedom of speech and expression.

We have ridiculed the time Honored values of our Forefathers

and called it enlightenment.

Search us, Oh, God,

And know our hearts today;

Cleanse us from every sin

And set us free.

Amen!"

The response was immediate. A number of legislators walked out
during the prayer in protest.

In 6 short weeks, Central Christian Church, where Rev. Wright is pastor,

logged more than 5,000 phone calls with only 47 of those calls
responding negatively.

The church is now receiving international requests

for copies of this prayer from India , Africa and Korea

Commentator Paul Harvey aired this prayer on his radio Program, "The

Rest of the Story," and received a larger response to this program than
any other he has ever aired.

With the Lord's help, may this prayer sweep over our Nation and

wholeheartedly become our desire so that we again can be called

"One Nation Under God."

If possible, please pass this prayer on to your friends "if you

don't stand for something, you will fall for anything."

Think about this: If you forward this prayer to everyone on your

e-mail list, in less than 30 days it would be heard by the world.

How many people in your address book will not receive this

prayer.....do you have the guts

to pass it on?
I just did!
It is OK if some folks get it twice.

For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. But the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. (Romans 3:23, 6:23)

Wow, Dave.

That prayer calles to mind Daniel 20:1-20, where Daniel prays for Israel.

We need prayer warriors who will pray for our country this way, who will intercede and cry out for repentance. How can we ask for God's blessing when we do not ask for His forgiveness?

REPENT sinner !
for, are we ALL-of US, not
without sin

He, knows all of, our sins already...
we cannot... hide our transgressions..
NOT from Him
but we CAN TRY to exceed
our-'best' PAST EFFORTS

try ? We, are not aware of, that,
of, which we can be capable

especially when He, empowers our every step!

Before I came here to Manchester
I prayed for guidance
For, I had no-idea
whether I was to lose my right leg
I put it to Mary.....
What if, this... ? and, What if, that ?

I told her, I didn't want her, nursing an invalid
but, that, that is where I thought I could be headed

Suddenly, at a decision making examination

The hospital FOUND a pulse in my ankle
Blood WAS then, getting past my blocked artery

Due to changes in testosterone levels
a tumour developed in my left breast
This was REVERSED with three months of, DANAZOL

the same hormonal changes I believe to be responsible
for yet another problem that I would love not-to have

My blessings are;
that, my Mary would still-want me here
that, whilst I am not so fast on my legs... I remain mobile
I still have, my wit
my health is adequate so, to present few problems
that are insurmountable
and thiose that are I CAN get help with
Mary has a lovely family

I have my friends here in GE

I have contact with my youngest daughter and her family
(a news source, concerning the remainder of my offspring)

I am no-longer disconsolate, aggrieved,
nor, lonely... I am indeed very-fortunate
am, spritually-speaking 'RICH'
beyond my wildest-hopes/ wishes

All the above, I attribute, to the Good Shepherd
whom has, I am sure
used Miggles, to point my way back
for, having given me 'wings'
and, I WILL NOT 'LOOK BACK'
I do not wish to COUNT my many blessings

I do, praise the Lord [my saviour]
for, all of, His Mercy
His will, be done in me
amen

Well, Jan

Plainly, our Lord works, 'in mysterious ways'

How can anything stand against Him ?
'HIS WILL BE DONE'

Good morning to you Jan (everybody) [midday here]

I spotted this page on MSN earlier
It has 'ADVICE' on how to improve one's 'grey-matter'

LOL everything under the grey [gray] hair

Am going to have-to [so, it implies] VISIT MY DOCTOR

Some prayers, could make that unnnecessary
But, if it IS GOOD FOR ME...
then
it MIGHT.... be GOOD for Mary also ^_^ :p :p

Should I look into this book I wonder

That is interesting I wrote the former name but it was automatically edited to read christianforums.com

Hope all are ok I have been running around too much after work so it is nice to sit for a bit. I bought a frozen shepherds pie for dinner from my favourite bakery not realizing how long it would take to cook so I am being undisciplined and eating a maid of honor tart. YUM
