  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Thanks B !

Mary and I, were informed yesterday
that BT (telecommunications mogul)
requires; one-month's notice
before they will remove Pipex-broadband
from her phone line
when, then, I can have my Orange Broadband
assigned to OUR phone line

and so it is
that I will NOT
have unlimited connection again...not,
until 16th August

BT sent me, a £5.83 cheque (arrived this-am)
in repayment of my overpayment
up and until the date of my cancellation of service
after just over 18 months at my flat in Bristol

I continue to be unable to post to certain-forums
(via, any means/ view type)
Being, only able to view recent-updates BEFORE
I SIGN-IN.... to GE 50+
whereafter, access isn't granted to me

I will send a note of the 'vagaries' to Admin (Erwin)
where then 'enlightenment' may be forthcoming

Hope you had 'A GOOD-ONE' B...

WHEN YOUR HUT'S ON FIRE

The only survivor of a shipwreck washed up on a small, uninhabited
island. He prayed feverishly for God to rescue him. Everyday he scanned the horizon for help, but none seemed forthcoming. Exhausted, he eventually managed to build a little hut out of driftwood to protect him from the elements, and to store his few possessions.
One day, after scavenging for food, he arrived home to find his little hut in flames, with smoke rolling up to the sky. He felt the worst had happened, and everything was lost. He was stunned with disbelief, grief, and anger. He cried out, "God! How could you do this to me?"

Early the next day, he was awakened by the sound of a ship approaching the island! It had come to rescue him! "How did you know I was here?," asked the weary man of his rescuers. "We saw your smoke signal," they replied.
The Moral of This Story:
It's easy to get discouraged when things are going bad, but we shouldn't lose heart, because God is at work in our lives...even in the midst of our pain and suffering.
Remember that the next time your little hut seems to be burning to the ground. It just may be a smoke signal that summons the Grace of God.

P. S. You may want to consider passing this on, because you never know who feels as if their hut is on fire today.

Would You Send This Please

We have a long list of good friends whose husbands are deploying to Iraq next month. One of the wives sent me this.
We feel compelled to send it on. Your prayers are deeply appreciated.
These guys deserve our love, our hugs and most powerfully, our prayers.

FatherIamjustaman.jpg

Prayer Request:

I understand that life in Iraq is very difficult to bear right now.
Our troops need our prayers for strength, endurance and safety.
Send this on after a short prayer;
please don't break it:

"Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. Amen."

When you receive this, please stop for a moment and say a prayer for our troops around the world.

There's nothing attached;
just send this to all in your address book. Do not let it stop with you,
please -- of all the gifts you could give
a US Soldier, Sailor, Airman, or Marine deployed in harm's way,
prayer is the very best!!!

Hebrew 4:16 -
Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence,
so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

That picture made me cry, Dave.

I was one of those military kids, too. Only my daddy was killed in Korea before I was born. I never knew him. I wish I had.

The price of gas here in the U.S. has gone up, not down, since the war in Iraq began. All of us are feeling the weight of this war, not just in our finances, but in our hearts. Would that we could tell the Iraqis that we are not interested in taking over their country or ruling it in any way. We are not interested in telling them how to worship. We just want to make sure that we are not attacked again. Our interest is in seeing tyranny overthrown. Unfortunately, it seems tyranny lives next door to Iraq. Its name is Iran.

I have a son who is a marine, stationed in Japan. Let me tell you why my son enlisted. Because after 9/11 we felt vulnerable, all of us. He felt more than that, so angry that the anger became depression. He felt that enlisting was the only thing he could do. It was his way of expressing his love for his country, and his determination to defend us.

Since that time four years ago when he graduated from boot camp, my son has lost friends in action, many fellow marines. There is a sadness for every one.

My father's name is etched into a Memorial here in my city. Also etched at that site are the words, "Freedom is not free." Indeed it is not.

My heart goes out to you...in agreement for all the same reasons. My sons have served in the Marines following the tradition of their Grandfather's WWII Action. Grandfather (my Dad) never glamorized it but he was proud of his grandsons... (in peacful times and who would have thought that we would face this again after ending Vietmen with such strong convictions against war?)

First Son went to Gulf War #1 came home safe and sound. Everyday was without mercy worrying until it was finished.

Shortly after 9/11 my youngest son, overcome with all this patriotism tried to enlist also...surprise surprise he was turned down because he is legally deaf. He wanted it in the worst way but here I have him safe at home... finished his education and now has a career. Wouldn't they love to have him now. It is pretty shocking to look back at how this was evolved.

My heart is troubled for the other parents who have endured their losses and for those who live with the worry. All of them are as precious as my own son is to me.

Somehow, my family has been spared....yet we pray for those who carry the burden and we share the anger that comes from not having any say in this war.

Thank you so much for your love and thoughtful words, Springrain. And you too, Dave. Your private message meant so much.

I hate war. I hate not only what happens on the battlefield, but also what it does to families. I hate what it does to the every soul involved, enemy or not.

On 9/11, I was shocked, just as everyone else. But I also saw something that others don't seems to realize. I believe that the United States will never be at peace again. We have a sworn enemy--Islam--which transcends borders and race. It is an ideology which will not be cowed. Like the gorgon Medusa, the more it is attacked, the more heads it will grow. It hates any nation where people are free to worship as they choose, and above all, it hates Jesus Christ and those who belong to Him. It wants everyone, even its own believers, to be strangled by its despotic hold.

Our most effective defense, I believe, is not military weapons but prayer. This is not so much a physical war but a spiritual one.

So I am praying for the salvation of Iraq, Iran, and every Middle East, Far East and African country where Islam raises its serpentine heads. "The weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments [including ideologies!] and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God...." 2 Cor. 10:4-5.

It seems impossible, doesn't it? Yet nothing is impossible with God, Luke 1:37, and he can change even the most despotic ruler, Prov. 21:1.

Because these people have raised the sword against the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, I have prayed and continue to pray for God Himself to reveal Himself to them. I am praying for Him to tell them the truth in John 14:6. I am continuing to believe that He will.

God said to Jesus, "Ask of Me, and I will give you the nations for your inheritance, and the ends of the earth for your possession," Ps. 2:8. In Jesus' mighty name, I come before my Father, who is not willing that any perish,
1 Tim. 2:4; 2 Peter 3:9, and ask.

God is not willing that these nations should perish. Furthermore, there are the Muslims in our midst. God loves these precious people, too. Would that they could know how much.

Our church shares our space with an Iranian congregation. Many come from Muslim background but not all. Their pastor did though for sure. There are some Christians who have left Iran due to persecution and many were nominal in their Moslem belief. But I have heard that the Spirit of God moves mightily in this way as it is often the ONLY way. gg

A person who is, on one hand -
1. "praying for the salvation of Iraq, Iran, and every Middle East, Far East and African country where Islam raises its serpentine heads"

while at the same time
2. on the other hand, spends time&energy online, intentionally harmful towards other Christians who have been, and are engaging God's way of life
Such evidence suggests strongly that such a person is not involved in Jesus Christ's way of life.
Either a person *loves*
or they demonstrate insincerity by virtue of pretending to have qualities that you do not really have; iow h........

Jesus Christ's way of life, beyond harmless, is *helpful*.

Annie,

I deeply regret that you continue to feel hostile towards me. If I have hurt you in any way, I ask for your forgiveness.

On my part, I forgive you and continue to pray blessings for you and your family.

I was touched by your concern for my daughter last month. Thank you.

I am hoping for better relations between us.

Ariel,
I appreciate and agree with your above post. Thank you so much for sharing your insights. This encourages me to pray for those who hate us, and those who have no hope.

Thank you so much, MommySue. I so much appreciate your kind words and thoughts.

Yes, let us pray for these whom God loves so much!

Matthew 4:16 talks about the people of Galilee who sat in darkness, but when Jesus was revealed, "saw a great light." I remember Scripture says that God is not a respecter of persons (Rom. 2:11; Acts 10:34). Surely He wants all of us to see a great light--that Light who is Jesus Christ. Therefore, I pray this prayer for nations who don't know God. If they have been hateful toward us, it is because they don't know our God who is love. We must remember that we ourselves were once enemies of God as well.

Just as God had mercy on us, so He can also have mercy on them. He does not delight in the death of the wicked, Ezekiel 18:23, 32. Much more, His delight is when even one turns and is saved. The angels rejoice!

So let us continue to pray! God is faithful. If He lays such a burden on our hearts, then surely He will bring it to pass. His Word will not return to Him void, but surely will accomplish the purpose for which He sent it, Is. 55:11.

For those who feel led to pray for the nations, here is an url which may help:
