Does anyone use artificial sweeteners? If so, have you tried Stevia? Stevia is completely natural and comes from a plant. I've been trying it now for about 2 weeks and like it a lot. I like the idea of no chemicals. So far, there hasn't been anything negative reported about health or interactions with other substances or medications. I found it in a product called Splenda Naturals. It has 0% everything except 1% carbs, so I assume it would be great for people with many different health conditions. Did I tell you that it really tastes good?

Yes! it is very good, I agree.

I also use Xylotol for cooking cakes, biscuits etc. Just like sugar but safe. The only thing I have to use sugar for is making bread as substitutes won't interact with the yeast.

Well, while I would normally applaud 'the discovery' of
something, less harmful ?
Here is one time , that I speak up and say "Hold up there"

I use granulated unrefined cane-sugar
I had been resolutely 'cutting-back' on White Refined sugar
over several-years, because, it seemed
the more you used, was never-enough, the next time you used-it

I loved chocolate, I would buy several bars at-once on payday and 'binge'
Then, one day in my teens, I bought and opened a Mars Bar
and as soon as my mouth closed, over the bar [it hit me]
My tongue and the insides of my cheeks were producing mucus
~to thin-down the invading substance SO - S W E E T
it was sweeter than syrup (invert sugar) several-times sweeter

My reaction, with hindsight was analogous-with
my holding a mouthful of fresh lemon-juice / hot-potato in my mouth
AND I hadn't even put my teeth 'on' the chocolate it is covered with

Brother Dave, thanks for the information. I just use Stevia for my coffee in a product called Splenda Natural. It's probably as safe or safer than other sugar substitutes. Everything I've read indicates it is safer than real sugar.

I have used stevia for several years. I have gotten used to it. Other sweeteners taste odd to me because I have used stevia for a long time.
