  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Here are some photos of me, Grant and Gracie...I had locked my keys in my car at Morro Bay last Sunday...we were waiting for AAA to come and rescue us and they did...in a very short time too.
Grant is eating his candy (the reason we were in MB); I am sitting on the car next to mine.
I had also lost my glasses and could not read my phone or AAA card...Grant was a big help.
One of Dave's miracles...straight from the Lord.

Hello luvs,
Just wanted to check in and apologize for my absence this past week or so. Seems my teeth wanted to give me more grief.
I've been going though some horrible times with my natural teeth. This past week one of my lower back molars decided to become so infected that it spread to the eye, ear and neck area.
I finally made it to the dentist office yesterday to go through yet another horrible and painful process of having it surgically removed...ahhhhhhhhhhh!
Even with the numbing I felt every stroke of the knife and instruments right down to the jaw bone. I felt so light headed and in pain after it was removed they had to place me into a recovery room where I rocked in pain with ice packs on my face.
The infection has drained and along with the antibiotics and pain meds I am recovering quite nicely now. This all makes me wonder how people got along before modern medicine and what kind of pain they had to go through with bad teeth.
I've decided to have them all yanked out because they're not worth this kind of pain any longer. I already have an upper denture that I love and will continue to have the remaining lowers removed and have a lower denture to replace them also.
I really pity people with bad teeth...they are painful. I've taken care of my teeth all of my life only to be reward with more pain and problems. I think it must be a genetic thing with some like this too.
Anyhoo...that's where I've been in my absence and now hopefully I'll get some much needed work done in light of so many things I've neglected during this long painful process I've endured.
I will have a much brighter weekend now absent the pain and swelling. Hope you have a wonderful weekend as well.

I had 'let-go' of, all, of mine aged just 27 years
and, been very-happy to wear dentures, ever since

Without the support of the teeth, our gums shrink as the years pass
so, it is necessary to have them replaced at regular intervals
to prevent gum and palate problems
Movement of the denture [while chewing] can cause blisters /ulcers [?]

I could NEVER get the hang of fixative....
for, it's becoming softened by hot coffee
and leaking, from beneath the denture to make me gag

Also, I could never leave them OUT overnight [soaking in sterilizer]
for, my gums could not 'meet' and I would get jaw-ache overnight
So, at night, I wear my older set, while the newer set 'soaks'

EVERYTHING CHANGES
and it is a blessing to be able to ACCEPT the changes ~to adapt and move-on

With best wishes

dave

O, God bless you too Dave...
I still have expectations for myself...physically... that I cannot do anymore...
can get myself frustrated at times...
mostly am more grateful i can still move "at all".

Yes Shirley Sis'

There was that time back in Bristol [it was, some, many months]
that my physical disability had me believing
that I wasn't to be in this world, for very much longer
But, giving-up, just never occured to me
because,
as the darkness began to surround me, the 'light' would burst through and lift me up again

Mary here, struggling with her computer, gave me reason to rise from bed, each day
and then, 'Miggles' brought me here to GE from a lovely forums, then turned bad
I don't say, that I have been cured
but rather, that I most-certainly am able, to view things
in a much 'more-peaceful' and 'forgiving' way

It seems everything takes longer to do,
but I still get things done that are important for a healthy home.
Just have nothing extra...energy that is
for other things like I used to.
I did drive myself to my son's last week...5-6 hours one way...
I don't have too many years left to do that
and I go way less often than I used to.
I love the area where he lives, so I enjoy those trips...
but home seems so marvelous to me now...PTL!

'One step at a time' :)

'Home is where your heart is' AND 'that', is inside of you

I have a mouth full of caps...
new problems are usually, under, the caps...
I had one bad decay and few years ago...it was not fun...
what you just described sound pretty aweful to me.

I think people must have died from infected teeth...
probably still do in many parts of the world.:hug::hug:

I did, once, read of the plastics used-for dentures
leaking carcinogenic chemicals into the gut and causing cancer [?]
But now, I realize that God doesn't allow 'stuff' like that to occur
when it doesn't suit [fulfill] His purpose .... so, HEY HO
Que Sera, sera :)

Nice to see you again Shirley Sis'

Yes, 'miracles' do happen, though, via mysterious ways :D

How old is Grant now... @ 15 ?

He is becoming a strapping lad

All of my lads are way taller than I am ....
I used to be, five feet nine and a half inches
Nowadays, I am only five feet seven inches

Good morning  from here

Sleep well

Hello Everyone,

It was a great visit with my brother. He leaves in the morning for Oklahoma City and boards a train that takes him home to Oregon. He doesn't like airplanes, so he got a dose of 4 days each way. He said that it is quite comfortable, and the food is good. He also has a big picture window to look out and see some gorgeous scenery.

Everyone have a great week.

I thought about asking him the price, but I know it was more than airlines. After all - just food for four days each way would be pretty expensive. He said the cars were full, so I guess many people still travel by train. He said that everything was very nice and clean. Further, he said that he would do it again.

Stopping in to say hello
The past couple of weeks we have been busy with Fall chores.
Hubby is recovering from a relapse of the virus he just got over; so far I have avoided catching it.
Today Ms Penny has an appt for her yearly check up.
It is gorgeous weather here in the Northeast; Summer has come back to visit.
Our foliage will be peaking in the next couple of weeks; the preview of color looks amazing so far!
Blessings to all

It is the best foliage we have had in many years and in some spots it is just spectacular

Love the dog pic Dave; reminds me of my beloved companion of 14 years Nikki (English Springer Spaniel) when she was a pup :)
