Stairs and inclines are [altogether] very tiring for me,
Coming downstairs 'backwards', is much safer [for me] than the normal manner

Memories and thank yous to all who have served their countries...men and women in all parts of the world.

PBS had an emotional and beautiful memorial service out of Washington last night.

They are in my thoughts and prayers.

Hi Yvie Sis'

Get well soon

dave

Hi Dave

We went for a nice walk today; it is sunny, windy, and warm @ 70, with nice dry air

Each day passing will warm even more ....with temps hitting 90, Thursday through Sunday, with high humidity

After our walk we drove to the nursery to buy tomato plants; the seedlings Jim started didn't survive the cold temps over the weekend (30's).
Next year he will wait until the first week of June to plant (I told him so )
He is getting those in now while I do a few quick chores, and aside from a bit of calisthenics, we are vegging today
Back to our HEALTHY routines tomorrow; the diet started today

I may look into some of our local gyms and see what they do for seniors...might find out something good. Walking around here is very hard on my knees...lots of up hill stuff.

Planet Fitness is a chain, so you might have one close to you. For those with walking problems, I recommend an exercise bicycle with back support - called a recumbent exercise bicycle. I hope that you find a gym that meets your needs.

Hi Gail Sis'

You could, [in future] 'start' your tomatoes indoors,
planting-out when frosts have ended ?

We have our rain back for a few days, with frosts having been forecast [nights]

We have been indoors today, since the rain arrived... only light showers
but still so-much, as to create a muddy mess underfoot
It will do the grass seed, the world of good and aid the transplants to settle-in

I don't hold with diets... I eat to stave off hunger, but I am a little 'picky'
~I love variety/ never the same meal, twice, in the same week
I am glad you feel the benefit [pleasure] of your walks and calisthenics

I made us 'bolognese' for dinner, which I washed down with a bottle of 'real ale'
watched some television "Britain's Got Talent" [first of the semi-finals]
which will continue all-week, until the finals at the weekend
and then I uploaded some further albums to Facebook

It has been a long day in our household, so I will shutdown after checking my emails [if any]
and await the morning's arrival, with my beak under blanket

have a good night

He DID start them inside, but failed to heed my warning of possible cold temps
We can have hard frosts into the first week of June.
By ' diet', I meant just eating more healthy; lately hubby has been a bit indulgent
I love walks...but not calisthenics they are necessary for my osteopenia and muscle strength
Rest well

Thank you Gail Sis'

I do have, another-day

Then 'a cloche' would protect those plants [after Spring]
by the time they had reached a good height
the risks of frosts, would be much-reduced

Thank you, for the heads-up/correction re: 'diet'
I see now, that you meant 'to correct an over-indulgence'
and make amends, via sensible consumption, in future... it isn't, by any means, easy for some

I willingly conform-to /accept, the wisdom, of those adages:
# too much of a good thing, is bad for you
# a little bit of what you fancy, does you good
# variety, is the spice of life

'range of movement' exercises, can be done all day long
during daily tasks and 'necessary extension' ~it beats 'seizing-up'

Mary is out with her friend 'May', they have gone to visit May's sister
whom hasn't been too-well, for a while now
I have-to catch up, with some important correspondence [and, stay on top of it]
so I will take a break shortly and get it 'out of the way'

Have a good day everyone, I'll BBL

Hi Dave
I also told him to cover them, but he didn't

Re: the diet (for me)....it isn't the amount of food as much as it is content; restaurant foods are too high in sodium.
While it tastes good....eventually I don't feel well if we eat out too often.... as it causes fluid retention, and affects my various body systems.
For me....simple, home cooked foods are best; it is a bland diet, but I feel great on it

Re: the exercises...I do just as you mentioned....with stretches, ROM, and mild strengthening throughout the day

Today is beautiful; the last day before the high heat and humidity arrives.
Penny and I will walk while hubby cuts the grass, then I will just putter around the house doing odd chores

Be blessed today everyone

Mary often says, to me "You just don't listen" _ "you only have yourself to blame"

I think, the unexpected, can take anyone, by surprise
and the best laid plans are subject-to, fickle weather conditions

We have some mini greenhouses [frames and clear PVC sheeting]
in which we raise seedlings, to 'five leaves' and beyond [before planting]

Most rose bushes have a few buds on them already
the White Rose, began first, followed by 'David' in the front garden
and then the Pink Rambler on the west border

I am surprised to see so-many of the apple blossoms have set to become fruit
as Bees have been noticeably absent [few and far between] this year
Recalling also, that it [Bramley Apple] did not blossom at-all, last year \o/

We, do not eat OUT so very often... It is a rare treat, and even disappointingly expensive
so as to deter our return to that restaurant
eg:
£15 /$22 pp... for all you can eat ...
But Mary and I wouldn't eat sufficient, to hit the £15 cost of, one of us
#2. I could purchase a Fish and Fries meal for two for £8 ~and save £22
#3. I could get chicken-curry with egg fried rice for two for £11 ~and save £19

I enjoy eating at home, not the least, because I know
what and where and how, the ingredients were obtained, prepared and cooked
but because I can do that more cheaply and know, that we have eaten well

Usually our weather 'grows' only gradually
and we do not experience such wide ranges of temperature/ humidity change [temperate]
Thankfully!

God bless you and your's Gail Sis' _and all the Golden Eagles

I prefer eating at home, for the same reasons; but Hubby loves to eat out

We need to watch our wallets too as we are living off a 401K until social security kicks in this Fall.

Once is a while is an opportunity for me to treat myself to foods I avoid on a regular basis

We have plenty of warning re: potential harm to crops, and I recalled problems with my first garden 28 years ago....but he insisted *I* was wrong
Never too old to live and learn

We 'live and learn' don't we ? [all of us]

With some of us, suffering 'harder knocks' for our lack of aforethought

Looking-back, I wish I had been much more frugal, with my 'share' of the proceeds
from the sale of the marital home...
insufficient, to BUY another home, but, I did, have to start-over [oh well! all gone now]
I had 'enough', remaining, to move me and my chattels, up here to Manchester
and despite a few hiccoughs, I truly haven't looked backwards with-regret
What is that saying: "all is well that ends well" ?

With best wishes for your hubby's further attempt

your Bro'

What Mary says to Dave, I said many times to my husband as well.
Must be a human condition.

This day has flown by for me, thus far.

Marsha Sis'

In the event I could be called to defend myself

I do observe protocols
~when I know full well that to take a shortcut to achieve success
is perhaps unfair and maybe, even possibly illegal ...

I reserve the right NOT to take that step, and any failure
as a result of such a choice, is not 'the loss' I could carry guilt over

To fall short, is not a sin, but it can be a lesson, that makes us stronger

dave

PS

The whole year so-far, seems to have it's running shoes on
Sadly the weather is behind schedule

Yes it is June in a little while and, as I have already mentioned
in just over four weeks from now, we will see Christmas cards and decorations in the shops
and, in the matter of The Card Shop, Salford Shopping Precinct, you can already buy them 16 for £1 [US $1.50]
