Just done talking with my neighbour about the timeless aspect of classic movies like with Burt Lancaster and James Stewart. At least they did not have commercials back then

I recommend the movie "You can't take it with you" with James stewart. Very nice and moving

I love the old movies....1940's or earlier. Just saw one with a very youn James Cagney...he was not a "crook" in this one.

Lol really? He was cast typed as a crook lol. He starred a lot with Pat O'brian I think (Often played as a priest) and his best friend. He did a musical but forget the name. He was very talented. I think he was only five foot six but played a big tough guy

Edward G Robinson was also very short in stature but played a big tough guy lol.

I did too...still do, but many of the story lines were much more Christian based...not like what we see today in the movies....

Hello everyone. Not much into classic movies myself. TCM has Elvis movies on all day, which I watched for about an hour; it's the anniversary of his death. My cousin had me watching him when I was four.

It's quite in the chat today. I went to the mall yesterday, mostly just for a change of scenery. It was more crowded than usual. Probably back to school time brought folks out.

I like the classics. They seem wholesom and virtous. They could not swear back then. I like the timeless natue of the classics. Those were simpler times to be sure.

Yes, those were wholesome movies...maybe they were not rue to life, even then....but they did reflect the spiritual character of the nation...we thought of ourselves as Christians and held to the 10 commandments as thr rule of living, even if we fell short of living them out perfectly.

I have "Meet John Doe"...what a story, I was surprised by its moral content.

My hubby is an Elvis fan....I am not...one of the few I think. We found the stores to be crowded too...people getting out of the heat and school will or is starting here too.

Yes, I will be alone for a few days...we have very good neighbors here if I need any help...I am very thankful for such nice neighbors.

Kodiak Island will be my hubby's destination tomorrow...first a plane trip to Seattle...then on to Anchorage (I think)....then by car to Homer, they will rent a car for a 7 hour drive...then board a boat for Kodiak Island and stay on that boat for about 5 days...it will be a journey for sure...something hubby and son both will enjoy.

I liked Elvis alright, but the Beatles were my favorite. To this day, I like Paul McCartney and much of the 60s-70s music. Nothing makes me feel older, though, than realizing all of those guys are 70 years or older now.

We are about 11/2 hour drive east of Long Beach....near Redlands. We both were born in the San Joaquin Valley, met and married there, but have lived nearly 50 years in so Ca.

I sort of liked the Beatles, but lost interest in them early on...I remember having the songs and lyrics of a lot of Broadway stage shows memorized...My Fair Lady was a favorite...I liked the sound tracks of several movies at the time. O, good grief, I used to sing a long with Mitch Miller...have not thought of that in years.

Then I found Christian music....
