I have enjoyed the chit chat here today...
I am sort of out of "sorts"....
got a headache from this heat....
but the days are shorter....PTL!

We have had an opportunity to get another Pom....
I was very excited at first, now not so sure...any thoughts?
It may not even be available any more.

This would be a sibling of Gracie's, not from the same litter.

Because of their STRUNG nature's [?]
First arrange a meeting of your's with the new one [observe]
If they meet well and play.... take the 'risk'

If on the other hand, you see hostility, be wary ...
they can seriously harm each other
~not having been brought-up together [?]

They are territorial and Gracie, may become jealous
of the usurper of her owner's affection /lap-space
May not WANT to share

Yes, I thought of this too...Gracie does enjoy other dogs if they are not too agressive. But she is and has been a princess since she arrived here...LOL

Lol. Wishing everyone here well with all of my little heart. Thanks be to God for my ministry. I am only gracious to be able to give back to Him. I stand in line to be the servant of all lol. Service is a key to the kingdom of heaven.

Hello to all, here is an update on the fire: The fire is still strong, now, there are over 800 firefighters fighting it and the state is in a state of emergency, even the National Guard has been called in, it is horrible. I noticed today as we went by Thorp and Elk Heights, a few miles west of Ellensburg, that all the area around it was black and all vegetation was burnt. I have a friend who lives off highway 97, and her house was barely missed, praise the Lord, but, her fences, outbuildings, even front yard, were taken by the fire, the Lord was looking out for her house, but everything else they owned was destroyed outside, etc. Luckily, her horses were OK, and her daughter took them to the Horse Park Barns here in Cle Elum. She is staying with her brother on the outskirts of Ellensburg. The lady across the highway from her, lost her house completely and everything else, all she was able to save was her 40 husky sled dogs and one car. The fire was raging so fast, folks only had 5 minutes to get out. I have been looking at pictures in the paper and news, it is just horrid. They only have it 10% contained, and I can tell that it is still going strong, the entire sky over Cle Elum and part of Ellensburg is smokey with the strong smell of smoke. The winds are not as high today, thank goodness, but, if they pick up again, it could send the fire over to Wenatchee and over Blewitt Pass.

Please keep all of the victims and fighters in your prayers, it is not over by any means.

My sister has not answered her phone this week. This means she is likely not doing well and may be bed ridden again. I will get to see her in a couple weeks when I fly down to Halifax. Please include her in your prayers. She is a very good soul and I look up to her.

I will certainly keep your sister in my prayers, may our Lord be with her and envelope her in His love, and may your vacation to see her help her in her healing.What is your sister's name? I like to use names when I pray for folks when possible,

I hope you feel better, I get that way with the heat, I can not tolerate it at all, today thru Saturday, it is supposed to be 100, I know where I will be.

Pom's are soooo cute, it might be nice for your "Gracie" sometimes, when one dog is older, they can teach the pup their traits and can be a mentor to them, it is sort of cute. Let us know what you decide, and if you get her, please post a picture of them.

What is the age difference?
Same sex?

Penny is very independent with other dogs; she barely bothers with them...if at all.
Plus she is sued to all the attention, as Dave said; though there is a toy poodle that she is 'friends with (we know the owner).
She will greet the dog and the owner, then just sit quietly and does let up pet/pick up little Kenzie.

We are a 'one dog ~ love and spoil them rotten' family

I think opposite sex dogs (fixed of course) get along better than the same sex....at least that has been our experience in seeing family dogs interact over the years.

Prayers as you discern (and I hope you cool down and feel better soon!)

"Three months younger" implies use of an alternate dam [half-sibling ?]

Reason for return;
maybe, the first owner hasn't 'read the book' and LOST CONTROL
Some 'de-training' may be required and with Gracie [in the ring] almost impossible

Sometimes people are just not prepared for a dog;or an older dog that may have issues.

If it is a question of the dog's temperament, having the dogs meet is a good idea (especially on Gracie's turf); though I don't know the best way to do that.

First walk in the same area, walk closer but NOT too close
ALLOW them to 'read' the scents each leaves behind

When no challenges are issued _walk toward each other [at normal pace]
and observe, whether or not hackles rise [?]
Approach Closer and stand close enough, for handlers to chat
[as in a street meeting] and observe the dogs
~wagging tails and soft cries, announces willingness to communicate

Allow up close and be prepared... to use leashes to impose safe distance
in case of the 'change of mind'


ETA... a dog that has had to compete with other dogs to eat
will tend to be very selfish [and snappy] even when there is plenty available to eat

Just done talking with my neighbour about the timeless aspect of classic movies like with Burt Lancaster and James Stewart. At least they did not have commercials back then

I recommend the movie "You can't take it with you" with James stewart. Very nice and moving

A Mirror or a 2-Way Glass?




How can you tell when you are in a room, restroom, motel etc. with a mirror or a 2-way glass?
Here's how:
I thought it was quite interesting! And I know in about 30 seconds
you're going to do what I did and find the nearest mirror.
Do you know how to determine if a mirror is 2-way or not?
A policewoman who travels all over the US and gives seminars and techniques
for businesswomen passed this on.
When we visit toilets, bathrooms, hotel rooms, changing rooms, etc.,
how many of you know for sure that the seemingly ordinary mirror hanging on the wall
is a real mirror, or actually a 2-way mirror (i.e., they can see you, but you can't see them)?

There have been many cases of people installing 2-way mirrors
in female changing rooms .
It is very difficult to positively identify the surface by looking at it.
So, how do we determine with any amount of certainty what type
of mirror we are looking at?

Just conduct this simple test:
Place the tip of your fingernail against the reflective surface
and if there is a GAP between your fingernail and the image of the nail,
then it is GENUINE mirror.
However, if your fingernail DIRECTLY TOUCHES the image of your nail,
then BEWARE!
IT IS A 2-WAY MIRROR!
"No Space, Leave the Place"

So remember, every time you see a mirror,
do the "fingernail test."
It doesn't cost you anything.
REMEMBER. No Space, Leave the Place:

Ladies: Share this with your girlfriends, sisters, daughters, etc.
Men: Share this with your wives, daughters, daughters-in-law,
mothers, girlfriends and/or friends.

I was rethinking this Dave and the "other" dog is 6 months younger than Gracie...it is about 1 year old...Gracie is about 11/2 years old.

I met a darling black Pom at the vet one day...he had been returned and the new owner had it, he was a fine little dog...nothing wrong with him....very lucky to get a good home.

I think maybe I will stick to one dog....if I had could have started with 2 it would have been ok...she is well trained for life with us. Man, am I nuts about her tho.
