If you're like me, you will never lose the heightened awareness, but the anxiety should subside with time. I look to see who in behind me in the store line. If I'm uncomfortable, I won't leave right away. Just a couple days ago, I heard voices, so I turned to look, to be sure they weren't following me. Dave's right, God made us to be resilient. But, no longer are we of the mindset of crime happens to the other person, not us.

You hit it right on aloneagain....I am more alert than hubby, since this was so close to "me" personally. He is losing his hearing and thought a very loud siren alert was low...bet he could not hear it well...he is almost deaf to certain tones...but keeps ignoring the family's concern.

Yes, I've noticed that of car alarms. We all assume that someone has set of their car alarm by accident. But, home alarms notify the authorities automatically, don't they? I don't have one, but a sticker on my window says I do.

As I posted above...this security has its own staff on duty 24-7 to respond to alarms for us. Many in the neighborhood are using this company; it does not mean nothing will happen again...just a public barrier to help divert criminals. We have signs and stickers to post around the property.

I am glad to hear you are relaxing Shirley :)

I was a bit tired today ~ it was hot outside :p

Hubby insisted we go out for supper, and save the leftovers for tomorrow's dinner after Church ;)

When we got home our Son called, inviting us for dinner on Labor Day.
It will be the first time seeing his new apt, and is a (lovely) 90 minute drive one way to the next State (NH).
That will make a nice change, as we ALWAYS have had people to our house for the holidays.

Though I must say we are noticing how 'quiet' our life has become, with both our kids busy in their new 'relationships' ....and with all our parents gone now, the siblings seem to be getting with their in-laws :o
Part and parcel for our advancing age I guess; good thing we don't mind the solitude, and we DO enjoy each others company :sorry:

I hope they stop by to see you :)

Hubby is the 'social butterfly' ;) I'm more of a hermit :D

As time goes on I can see there will be big changes for the major holidays coming up.
No wonder for some of the older folks, all the days can seem to blend together!
Just since retirement, I have a hard time keeping track of days and dates :sorry:

How nice for you, Gail. I am glad you and hubby are doing that. My holidays are rather non-eventful. Always have been. My son might have to work, or his girlfriend's family will invite them over. They will probably stop by at some point.

I hope they stop by for you too...I might go to some sales...looking for a new wallet.

I am a hermit too...I like it....:p Hubby gets a lot of interaction at his work. I used to get more from church...but that is sort of over for me.

It is nice to be quiet for a change; our lives were in an uproar for so many years, between our kids and our parents crises :o

Aside from Church and Monday evening with our son....we have no other plans, except to relax :D

We are '2 peas in a pod' girl ;)

I am usually at peace with being alone and often prefer it. Still, I miss having someone else around, even if we're in different rooms. It gets lonely at times. Yet, I'm not sure I'd want to share my house full time with anyone. I'm almost sure I wouldn't, so I endure the lonely moments.

I just had a bowl of cereal with milk. Then started to drink a little plain milk, when I discovered it's spoiled. I'm usually so careful. Now I wonder if I'll get food poisoning.

Nah! no-worries!

Sour milk was a favourite of mine as a child :D [it meant, I got 'more']
and will not harm you ...

Of-course, it depends upon whether it was 'contaminated' by a bacteria...
but properly-stored milk, just gone-past 'fresh', is harmless [lumpy or not :D]

:)

It is nice to see that about 20 people are going to answer and say the same thing "you may be sick".
The answer they gave is bull****.

Sour milk is perfectly fine. You have eaten sour cream with no ill effects.
Sour milk is just a flavouring as much as sour cream is.
Before pasteurization, spoiled milk may have been a problem
because the bacteria that is present in fresh milk is not always friendly.
Now there is no problem, and as long as you have kept the milk separate from poo and eggs,
cross contamination should not be a problem.

To tell you the truth you may have hit upon some culinary secret with the sour milk.
Sour milk is used in a lot of Indian and Tibetan recipes.
The milk adds a dimension of flavour that is reminiscent of citrus for people that have no access to the fruit.

Never worry, of it isn't blue or an olive green it is ok.
