Chinese-linked firm building near US military bases: Report

A new report claims a firm owned by a Chinese company that is planning to construct a manufacturing facility near multiple U.S. military bases in the Midwest has well-established ties to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

According to a report by The Daily Caller, which is based on research by Heritage Action and The Heritage Foundation Oversight Project, Cnano Technology USA Inc. (Cnano USA) is planning to build a 333,000-square-foot facility located in Johnson County, Kansas. The facility will be used to manufacture parts used in electric vehicles batteries and other products.

The Daily Caller reported that the new $95 million manufacturing facility will be located roughly 35 miles from Fort Leavenworth and about 70 miles from Whiteman Air Force Base.

Cnano USA is owned by C-Nano Technology Co., Ltd., which was launched by Cnano Jiangsu Technology Co., Ltd. (Cnano Jiangsu), a China-based organization, according to an annual report published by Cnano Jiangsu in 2022.

The Daily Caller reported that Cnano Jiangsu’s 2022 social responsibility report shows that dozens of CCP members are employed by the company. Additionally, the company’s website shows it has “undertaken a number of national 863” projects, which The Daily Caller said is a reference to a program by the Chinese government that has been accused of being used to steal U.S. technology.

Have you informed President Trump? He isn't in office but surely with his knowledge of China and Xi and his powerful connections, he would be able to do something about this. He loves this country so much that surely he will do his best and find a way to help.

Clearly, Joe Biden and the Biden Administration is not going to do anything at all about this problem. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if Joe Biden and his Administration is encouraging those kinds of actions by the CCP and Chinese corporations.

“The Daily Caller reported that the new $95 million manufacturing facility will be located roughly 35 miles from Fort Leavenworth and about 70 miles from Whiteman Air Force Base.”

When “near“ is 35 miles or even 70 miles, it’s going to be hard not to be near a military base in much of the US.

IOW, not anywhere near a base.

Kind of amazing how ignorant Americans are about China which is one of our greatest threats. They probably don't even know that China is buying a bunch of our farmland. To distracted by Israel, I guess.

While the OP story doesn't seem to have much there there, this one from a while back is more on target:

FBI: Huawei equipment on cell towers could intercept/disrupt military transmissions

On paper, it looked like a fantastic deal. In 2017, the Chinese government was offering to spend $100 million to build an ornate Chinese garden at the National Arboretum in Washington DC. Complete with temples, pavilions and a 70-foot white pagoda, the project thrilled local officials, who hoped it would attract thousands of tourists every year.

But when US counterintelligence officials began digging into the details, they found numerous red flags. The pagoda, they noted, would have been strategically placed on one of the highest points in Washington DC, just two miles from the US Capitol, a perfect spot for signals intelligence collection, multiple sources familiar with the episode told CNN.

Also alarming was that Chinese officials wanted to build the pagoda with materials shipped to the US in diplomatic pouches, which US Customs officials are barred from examining, the sources said.

Federal officials quietly killed the project before construction was underway.

Oh crap, Close to where our gold is I hear from money people on Bloomberg talk about the massive amounts of gold China and Russia is hoarding, maybe to topple the US Dollar. Not too sure what happens after that.
Where do you think our gold is?

Oh noes! One of our major trading partners is doing (checks notes)... something perfectly legal. This reminds of the freak out when someone dated to build a mosque in NY and people screamed about 9/11.
It's ok if you trust China fully but I don't. From their past actions they are not benefiting Americas interest. I guess you trust Russia because they were a trading partner also.

The Daily Caller is really going to lose it's mind when the staff realize that the Chinese Embassy is 7 miles from the Pentagon!

Are those the only two options? Because that seems just a tad bit of a false dichotomy. But by all means, explain to me exactly what it is you fear having a Chinese owned manufacturing facility 35 miles from an army base?

Did you not say, "major trading partners"? Now, how about Russia who we trade with? Russia and China are the Two major threats unless you can come up with more.

You can google it, but I'll help you out.

I can come up with many more. Some are even countries. That is not relevant. You gave the choice as either complete trust or not trust at all. That is a false dichotomy as there are multiple levels in between those two extrems.

I'm not asking Google I'm asking you. What specifically are you worried about from a manufacturing plant 35 miles away? Are you claiming they are going to set up some spy facility in the middle of a locally staffed manufacturing hub? Has the military given some warning about this? Has there been an advisory by one of our intelligence agencies?

Fort Knox lol thank you Leavenworth is a prison. I'm getting old and have been out of service for a while. Merry Christmas.
Are you concerned that the Chinese are going to arrange a prison break?

In a 2011 court case, Chinese-born scientist Huang Kexue was found guilty of stealing commercial secrets from US-based corporations and passing at least some of this information to the 863 program.
