  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm under the assumption that Hitler's entire staff had I.Q.s in the genius range.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I am under the assumption that Hitler's entire staff was a Christian of some kind.

Wouldn't it have been much more efficient (i.e. millions of lives spared) if the US simply prohibited Rockefeller from selling oil to the Nazi war machine, assuming we were really interested in saving Europe from becoming "goose-steppers?"
From Wikipedia:
Rockefeller was charged with overseeing a program of US cooperation with the nations of Latin America to help raise the standard of living, to achieve better relations among the nations of the western hemisphere, and to counter rising Nazi influence in the region. His efforts included spreading anti-Axis propaganda to head off Nazi fifth column activity, which was subsequently laughed at and booed by the Latin American population resulting in pro-Axis riots.

If you're going to accuse me of being disingenuous, then I have to ask: You were there?

Seriously, AV. Sometimes you let your lying tongue wag on for too long. You say things laced with venom and when confronted about them, you act like the victim. For a self-professed Christian, you sure have no problem telling straight-faced lies.

I'm under the assumption that [some of] you guys think the Crusades, the Inquisition, and witch hunting is/was a Christian endeavor.

I would assume an atheist cannot tell the difference.

So as long as long as you exhibit some semblance of a humane front, it somehow absolves one from the fact they let the pursuit of greed out weigh human life, on the order of millions? Really?

Rockefeller sounds a lot like your god in this instance, the power to eliminate suffering and unnecessary death, but chose not to. The Golden Rule.

They claimed they were Christians, they had churches and prayed to your deity, they tithed, claimed they were saved, and condemned others just like you. You definitely quack like those ducks.

I know we're bouncing around the spectrum here, but really, do we have to bring up abor...

Oh, wait -- who did you mean by 'they'?

Coming from an atheist, it wouldn't surprise me if you think a volcano is our God.

Abortion? It's Christians who believe that babies get an automatic ticket to heaven. According to Christians, they're better off in heaven than having a miserable go of it here on earth. So what's your beef? I mean really, your god allows for genocide, so what's the difference? Why does abortion bother you so much? The bible never mentions it. Are you prepared to take care of unwanted pregnancies? Or are you just an internet theologian, whose convictions stop once you log off CF?

And as far as volcanoes and gods, non-sequitur there Slick.

Rockefeller helped raise the standard of living, for somebody other than himself? Oh, the horror

I'm sure you consider it an irony that atheists place a higher value on human life than Christians do.

Reasonable Faith: question_16_Slaughter_of_the_Canaanites
Interesting read, though I can't imagine that a professor of philosophy would not realise he's committing the fallacy of the inverse (or denying the antecedent) in his justification of the existence of God via objective morality, amongst other things. Intentional deception appears to be ubiquitous in Christian apologetics.

Is there any hint that if empowered China will relax the regulation regarding human gentic engineering and cloning etc. What products and services might we soon (in e.g. 50 years) see on the market?

Disregarding the comments of those who neglected to put AV1611VET on their ignore list, I'd have to say if wouldn't surprise me in the least if the Chinese are already studying human genetic engineering, regardless of what their official or even actual policies are concerning it.

There's work done on human genetic engineering, I think in the US, to correct for genetic diseases. The most impressive I saw was one to restore color vision to the colorblind. With a minor adaptation, it should be possible to allow for people to see in a greater range of colors, which I imagine would be useful to scientists, artists, and perhaps soldiers. This therefore I think will be one of the first genetic enhancements to provide much significance.
