  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Well the idea is conceal identity best as is possible. I plan on working there, but I'd rather not discuss in what capacity or where online. I have some ideas, but I'm still not sure and plans can change very quick.

Still any info about organizations (or people going is all appreciated). And for that matter, I don't know if there are any sites dedicated to Christians going to China to minister. I know there are several organizations that do this, but I thought better to do it alone and find others doing similar things.

I'm not sure if you read Chinese or not but the Chinese language supports the creation account in Genesis. Here's an article about it.

http://www.drdino.com/cse.asp?pg=articles&specific=24

I think the language is strong evidence that the ancient Chinese knew their history pretty well. I hope you already don't know about it.

I've seen those supposed Chinese language supporting Genesis things, but not all of the examples actually work right. Furthermore, there are often better explanations from Chinese mythology or culture for the origins of the words.

It's just another attempt to find relationships and meanings that just aren't really there. Like how those roman numerals on the dollar bill are really a secret symbol for 666. (MDC + CLX + XVI = 600 + 60 + 6). Yes, the dollar bill is a great tool of Satan!

You are correct in saying a lot of said claims are extrapolations, but you go to far in discounting all of them.

Truth is, we won't know for sure on this earth which of such things are coincidence or divine orchestration.

So are you saying the dollar bill has a good probability of being a tool of Satan? ;)

BTW, I know a lot of Biblical Literalists will disagree with that statement of yours. After all, they're always saying how if you interpret one part of the Bible as being non-literal, then you can't interpet any of it as being literal. ^_^

Well the Chinese culture is one of the oldest surviving cultures to this day, the ancient Chinese kept detailed accounts of history and the study of history was a very respected activity. It isn't too hard to believe the creator of the Chinese writing system heard the story of the creation from his grandpa and used that to create new characters. Besides aren't myths based on some truth?

You mock it but that number you quoted on the dollar bill is not the only symbolism on the bill that could lead a person to believe it was a "tool of satan." However, I personally would call it a tool of satan on account of it's foothold in so many people's lives--the idol of green (or other colors depending on your country of residence).

As the proverb says, "Lord don't let me be so poor that I steal and defame you, and do not let me be rich that I disown you."

Your literalists are right. We can't pick and choose parts of Scripture to believe. We have to own it as a whole. But will a man ever know all there is to know in Scripture, or even in Creation?

No.

Yet at the same time, the Chinese culture being one of the oldest surviving culture makes a global flood 4000 years ago unlikely.

So do you also believe the whole Illuminati conspiracy behind the dollar bill too? ^_^ Let's try another one, the $20 bill prophecized, yes PROPHECIZED the events of 9/11! And guess what, you can even fold it to spells out the word OSAMA!!! Hey, even more! 9 + 11 = 20

But seriously, people will try to find relations and meanings in things that simply aren't there.

But here's the thing about Scripture for even non-literalists. We believe it! All of it! Except we understand it in a different way than literalists. And you even touched upon the reason yourself. :)

I don't think we are disagreeing here, just not understanding each other very well.

I haven't heard of this but it sounds absurd.

Wholeheartedly agree.

I don't really consider myself either. I'm not involved in this partisan issue (probably not the best word for it but it's what came to mind.) and don't know the details. I take Scripture at it's face value. The Spirit is our tool for understanding (I John 2;27) and the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge.

Twas a fantabulous story (and I'm not much a reader). It surprised me personally but giving me a greater view of God's omnipresence. My wife are I "liked" SE Asia before reading the book, and actually that's why it was lent to us.
