I can guarantee you that book couldn't be more off in its assessment. The influence of satan & the various effects have never ever been ignored in protestantism. The RCC would be the place most would think it is ignored. It is never discussed. I'm just telling you to not take that book as the truth concerning demonic activity & protestantism. With the concentration of Scripture & especially the NT, I do not know how he comes to his conclusions. Turn on any channel for a protestant show...you'll always hear about keeping in your toes concerning satan & demons. There is even a show where demon possession & exorcisms are shown.

maybe you are thinking more about Evangelical, Pentecostal, and Non-denominational churches?

remember, back in the 1960's and 1970's there were a lot more Lutherans and Methodist and Episcopalians, then there are now (at least as far as percentage of the US population goes)

I'm pretty sure if you want to sell a demon house, when you go through Escrow, you have to disclose the past demonic activity lest you fall out of Escrow and lose the sail.

Disclosure List:

* Termites (will need full fumigation and tent)
* Needs new lock tumblers for basement entrance
* Wood paneling had instances of mold
* Needs Catholic or Orthodox exorcism thanks to demonic activity
* Symmetrical bookstacking took place in the fruit cellar in 1982

No, across the board there is more acknowledgement of spiritual battles in Protestantism. There was a poll/survey I posted awhile back about it. Spending most of my life as a protestant that did a lot of Church hopping I feel confident in saying what I am. I think the book I feel is flawed in its assessment.

Are you a cradle catholic Rhamiel? Just curious. Been meaning to ask & I keep forgetting.

yeah I am
my Mom is Methodist though so I have done a lot of stuff in her church, and I live in a fairly Protestant area, not Bible Belt for sure, but also not majority Catholic

Ah ok. So your mom raised you Catholic? Your dad is Catholic? Don't answer if I'm getting too nosy. I'm just curious how Christian households that are mixed in their worship of Christ work.

my mom was raised nominal protestant, my dad has been an active catholic his entire life
I was raised Catholic, my mom did not become religious until I was about 11 or 12, so by that time I was already Catholic in sacrament and belief, because my moms church was just down the block and the pastors daughter was in my grade, I was really involved in the youth group there, so were most of my friends.

Studies from HUD show that demon houses sell for an average 32% less than non-demonically-possessed houses. The disclosure is a killer for sure. I'm afraid I would have to be dishonest and not disclose the previous demonic activity and just let the next owner see "Redrum" appear in the mirrors of the hallway...not my problem anymore!

Oh ok. Well it sounds like they worked it out pretty well.

Hey, laugh if you want, but most longitudinal studies of demonic house sales show that you're better off having asbestos and lead paint than having had Beelzebub and Ashtoroth in your cellar!:p

I always wondered why it's always the catholic priest that exorcises the demon(s). Are they the best at it or is it just what comes to mind first. Even people from other denominations call the catholic church.
In the Democratic Republic of Congo (formerly Zaire), the Catholic priests were referring exorcisms to the Orthodox Church.

I laughed, but there have been enough lawsuits over hauntings and demonic or unexplained phenomena that there are legal precedents (Stambovsky v. Ackley is the famous one)and responsibilities to disclose in several states. It was a whole section in one of the classes I took as a real estate agent, on stigmatized properties. Basically, well-known hauntings or houses with publicized crimes fall under "public stigma", but there is a category in many states called "phenomena stigma" which means a house is known for strange occurrences or hauntings. Virginia even specifies that hauntings only have to be disclosed when they physically affect the property - apparitions are fine; blood running from the walls or black goo in the faucets requires a disclosure.

Wow. I would never have known any of this except for your post. Altho I can understand disclosure if one knows. Blood running down the walls, I tell ya, I would be out of there so fast. The bank or whoever could foreclose on me and I wouldn't care. Shiver. Thanks for posting this.
