Children and television

We have a pack N play and I don't see how he could get out.... I would expect he would learn to climb out of his crib first and I hope he doesn't learn any time soon. This pack N play looks like a fortress. Besides, he likes watching that video in there and so he isn't trying to escape. But thanks, I will take a look at him in there next time..... I can't imagine though, this mesh is really close.

I grew up with TV on all the time. I went to sleep hearing the TV when I was younger (small house and bedroom right beside living room and no doors, except bathroom). I felt like I wasn't alone when I'd go to bed; the background noise helped me. When I was a teen, I was looking into acting as a career and I would watch TV to figure out how they did things. I paid attention to the credits too.

Now with my children, they watch TV. Most of the time, they watch a show and then go off and do something else. If they hear something on TV, they may come back and see what's on. They also go through stages about what shows they like to watch, so sometimes one show is in and another is out.

How much TV usually depends on the day, what mood they're in, what mood I'm in, etc.

I do think it really depends on the type of shows they watch. I don't let them watch shows which I feel are not age appropriate. My only problem is when they go visit their friends. My girls are 6 and 4. I tend to stay tuned to Treehouse TV (Canadian station). I've been to the US and find that Nick Jr isn't all that great, although they do have a few really good shows.

I also like to check out new kids shows with my girls and talk about the things we like and don't like about them.

Well honestly i only let Andrew watch about 2 shows a day and basically its the backyardagins in the mornin and power rangers in the afternoon,and when im home alone with katarena i usually want to go take a shower or do my home work so i put on like barnie or baby e.'s for her to watch((she loves barnie btw))

I let the kids watch one during the week in the winter (right after lunch) but on the weekends they get away with a bit more TV in the mornings. During the summer, the TV is hardly on because they are outside all the time.
