  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Where we live there's a creek right next door and we have stray cats everywhere. And my 4 year old son is ate up with bites, he scatches myself to death. And I can't find no relief. I've tried to put clear nail polish, but he screams and says it burns, so slash that idea. I've put iche cream antibotic, even the thrush cream they gave my daughter for her diaper rash. I've given him a bath with vinager in it, so I'm at my wits ends, and now I'm ichin thinkin about it. Anyone have any ideas how I can treat my babies insect bites. Any ideas, i' willing to try anything, he's miserable. Please help me!!!! :help:

Try giving him a bath in water that has baking soda dissolved in it. That is soothing.

Also, have you tryed giving him benadryl or putting benadryl cream on the bites? Calamine lotion also helps.

Mosquitoes LOVE me for some reason (I've got a ton of bites as we speak!), so I usually use benadryl cream or some kind of cortisone anti-itch cream.

Also, since it sounds like fleas/chiggers are just inevitable in your area, it might be wise to have him use insect repellant before he goes out to play. I hate using the stuff because it stinks, but I force myself to use it (except this past weekend!) because I know how miserable I am with bites. :(

The best insect repellent that I've found for my kids is the Avon Skin So Soft Bug Guard Plus/Sunscreen. It has a light smell and there are several different scents. My favorite is the Cool 'N' Fabulous...it smells like watermelon. Since it's also SPF 30 sunscreen, I try to put it on my kids every time they go out to play during the day...and before ballgames and stuff when I know we'll be out when the mosquitos start up. It works pretty well, and it doesn't have any harmful chemicals. It also has moisturizers. Here's a link to it :

I second the recommendations in this post and would like to add that Aveno oatmeal bath will also help with the itch.
