I don't see this as an attack on her faith, actually, because the whole chastity ring idea is relatively new and not at all a requirement for Christians. There is no commandment that says, "Thou shalt wear a chastity ring."

If jewelry is not allowed on campus (and I assume that's where the problem is coming from), then I don't think she has any defense for that. It's not like taking off the ring in the morning and putting it back on when she gets home in the afternoon is going to turn her into a harlot for those short 6-8 hours when she's without it.

And the headscarves, as already mentioned, are a requirement for that faith. They're not comparable.

You are right sister. You are right.

But what is wrong with "Standing up for Jesus"? As best we can?

Correctness....is becoming the downfall of "greatness" Greatness is only achieved in Jesus.

Looking at history now!

This is an attack upon the Christian Faith.

This isn't an attack on the Christian faith. This is a case of a girl wanting to wear a piece of jewellery in violation of the school's rules.

Yes, the ring has a religious significance for the girl, but it's of significance for her and not for Christians in general. If the Christian faith required all its adherents to wear a chastity ring, then this would be an attack on Christianity, but it never has and never will.

But what is wrong with "Standing up for Jesus"?

There's nothing wrong with that, but I don't see how supporting her desire to wear the ring is "standing up for Jesus".

This is an attack upon the Christian Faith.

It is nothing of the sort. It's a girl trying to get away with breaking the school's strict uniform code rules. Pure and simple. To get another attack of Christian paranoia because of this is nothing short of ridiculous.

And it's not happening throughout the Western world.

A side-note...

I believe that most public schools would benefit from a uniform dress code as well.

I think it should be simple - something like: Navy slacks & white polo shirt.

Your thoughts?

Kids at the public schools in my area are too poor to buy uniforms. And the installation of uniforms might raise some questions about America's "right to free education" guarantee. (This isn't a problem for me since I go to a private school.)
At my school, we get to choose from khaki or black bottoms (skirts if girls choose, but not required), and polo (collared) shirts in green, black, white, or yellow. We have the option of white collared dress shirts as well. Girls shirts have 3/4-length sleeves.

It is nothing of the sort. It's a girl trying to get away with breaking the school's strict uniform code rules. Pure and simple. ...

Do we know for certain that the school forbade wearing jewlrey? Or, more specifically, rings?

which led to the abolition of slavery, freedom of thought and expression, ect ect. we are witnessing a desire to abolish such idea and thought.

Not to be argumentative (though it will sound that way)- but Christians haven't had a stellar history with this. Supporting slavery in the US during our Civil War freedom of thought & expressions, lets not forget what happened to poor Galileo as well as the Inquisition, Oy vey!

Well, we don't know for certain, but it's definitely the more likely scenario.

I just don't see this as "standing up for Jesus." She's not required to wear that ring. It's never mentioned in the Bible. She can be chaste without it on. She can be Christian without it on.

I don't think it's a big deal.
