I don't see this as an attack on her faith, actually, because the whole chastity ring idea is relatively new and not at all a requirement for Christians. There is no commandment that says, "Thou shalt wear a chastity ring."
If jewelry is not allowed on campus (and I assume that's where the problem is coming from), then I don't think she has any defense for that. It's not like taking off the ring in the morning and putting it back on when she gets home in the afternoon is going to turn her into a harlot for those short 6-8 hours when she's without it.
And the headscarves, as already mentioned, are a requirement for that faith. They're not comparable.
