1. But to say that you would be denying the experience of many individuals who have had this experience.
2. If God is the same yesterday, today, and forever why can't their be an outpouring? Some people do miss use it, but not everyone:)
1. The problem is that people have made their experience the proof of scripture - experience doesn't guarantee the doctrine right. There are many false experiences. Experiences come and go and can be faked and some people can even be decieved by their experiences. Judge the exeprience by scripture not the scripture by the experience.

2. God is the same but He deals with different people in different ages differently. Ex. You don't have to worry about not eaitng pork anymore because God changed that - the law has been done away with. God didn't change but He did change that teaching for that teaching has been done away with.
Ex. - God told Noah to build an ark - God didn't tell you to build an ark. Ex. God told the Jews in the OT to sacrifice a lamb - He didn't tell you to sacrifice a lamb for The Lamb has already been sacrificed for you.

Summmary - God doesn't change - the message and how He deals with people does change.

This speaks to my point of the flamboyance of today's Charismatics. Far from humble.

Maybe you answered this somewhere else and I missed it, but do you think that since I'm not Charismatic that I'm not using my spiritual gifts?

You don’t know the true charismatics because there are humble. They will not go about announcing to the world that they have this or that gift. They usually will believe they are the lowliest sinner of all.

You can be a perfectly holy and pious Christian who does not operate in the gifts of the spirit. It is God choice, he choose whom he sees fit.

The law is not done away with and saying that it has is unbiblical.

The law isnt done away with, it is just simply fulfilled, and we are no longer under it. however, those not under grace and those who die never hearing the Gospel are judged according to the law in their hearts (Romans 1 doctrine).

There is no verse in 1 Corinthians saying that tongues has stopped. Those verses you point out have nothing to do with Israel and tongues stopping. God never changes, and while His methods might change, they dont unless He says "Hey, this isnt the way its done anymore" and quite frankly, God never says that about tongues.

I feel a need to point out that in fact the Bible says "and do not forbid to speak in tongues. " in 1 Cor.

This is a verse that all of the people claiming the gifts are gone seen to like to ignore or try to explain away. When anyone tries to explain away the clear meaning of Scripture this should be a warning bell that false doctrine is about to follow.

As for the Old Law being changed, I think not:

Psalm 19:7 the law of the LORD is perfect

and Paul says the same thing. The difference is the Law has been fulfilled and we are under the Law of Liberty now. Nothing has changed in the Old Law and it has not been done away with, it has simply been fulfilled and we have been given a new Law.

.
true

But who is Paul writing too???

the corinthians who are called saints in chapter 1 verse 2
But lets look deeper into what Paul says about them!

1 cor 1:10 Encouraging them so that there be no divisions among them
Vs 11....there are contentions amoung you...

1 cor 1 :27-29 .....God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise and He has chosen the the weak things of the world to confound the mighty, and He chose the base things of the world the things that are despised That no flesh should glory....

1 cor 2:14 the soulish man recieveth not the things of the spirit

1 cor 3:1 and I brethren could not speak unto as as spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ

1 cor 3:3 for ye are yet carnalfor whereas there are is among you envying and strife and divisions

even though these saints were not doing God will God says in verse 3:15 that there UnGodly works[God did not want these works done] are burned up but they will still be saved

1 cor 4:21 What will ye? shall I come unto you with a rod, or in love and in the spirit of meekness?

In verse 6:17 some saints were joined with harlot[ works of the flesh not spirit.....Gal 5:17-22]

1 cor 7:20-24 Paul encourages them to abide in there calling

Postional so live it

1 cor 7:25-40 virgins listen to this instruction

1 cor 8:12 But when ye sin so against the brethren and wound their week conscience, ye sin against Christ

Unity with in the Body of Christ ....God takes seriously

1 cor 9:11 If we have sown unto you spiritual things, is it a great thing if we shall reap your carnal things?

1 cor 10:6 OT was for are examples so we would not do them
1 cor 10:12 take heed or pride will cause you to fall like them!

1 cor 11:19 For there must be heresies among you, that they which are approved may be manifest amoung you.
1 cor 11:22b I praise you not

1 cor 12 Now conserning Spiritual Gifts

What were they doing wrong?

12:4 diversities of gifts but the same spirit
vs 5 One has administrations , buy the same LORD
vs 6 there are diversities of operations but the same God

1 cor 12:11 But all these worketh that one[gift] and the selfsame spirit deviding to every man severally as He will.

1 cor 12:22-25 Nay those members of the body, which seem to be more feeable, are necessary And those members of the body which we think to be less honorable upon these we bestow more abundant honour; and our comely parts have more abundant comeliness.

Do you see it?

More than one gifts? My gift is better?

vs 25b should have the same care for one another[Brethren not unbelievers...Gal 6:10]

1 cor 13:8 Love never faileth: but whether there be[gift of] prophecies, they will fail; whether there be [gift of]tongues they shall stop; whether there be [gift of]knowledge it shall be rendered idol.9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part 10 But when we that which is complete [prophecies]is come then that which in part shall be done away.

1 cor 14:19 Yet in the church I had rather speak five words with my understanding, that by my voice I might teach others also, than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue

1 cor 14:22 Wherefore tongues are for a sign[ 1 cor 1:22], not to them that believe, but to them that believe not

1 cor 14:28 But if there be no interptor[for prophecy and tongues] let him keep silence in the church

1 cor 14:32 and the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets 33 For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints

1 cor 14:39 wherefore, brethren covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues 40 let all things be done decently and in order

I may have worded my post wrong - sorry about that - I don't mean God erased the law from the OT - I mean we are no longer under the law in a sense we have to practice the law (Lev, Exo, Deut, ect.) in order to gain favor with God. I know Paul said the law is good. I understand that but we are not to abide by the law that Christ did away with. I know the 10 commandments are good - though I do not honor the Sabbath like Israel did. Hope that clears it up a bit.

May God Bless
