The Pentecostal movement started by a Methodist minister in 1900/1901 IIRC.
Wikipedia has an informative/interesting article on..
- 'Pentacostalism'
- Brief history/stories of beginnings..how & when it started.
---
Charles Fox Parham (was raised as a Methodist).
- He had an important role..in the beginning stage/phase of Pentecostal Movement.

Yeah, that’s my understanding. There’s even holiness Wesleyan denominations that have roots in Methodism.

Keep in mind charismatic and Pentecostal aren’t necessarily the same. Pentecostalism is a denomination among many. A person of any denomination can be charismatic.

@WarriorAngel

FYI:

There are actual 'charismatic healing Masses', like this one conducted by Fr. Augustine Mundackatt in Michigan in 2019.
Fr. Augustine is from India; he travels globally conducting these services.
I was blessed to have participated in several of his healing services when I lived in Oklahoma City.

Part 1:

Part 2:

Does he travel to PA...?

That's because there isn't a "Charismatic Catholic Church," only the Catholic Church, which may have a charismatic prayer group within it.

Today, there is more of a struggle by some to have a parish include the Latin Mass than having a charismatic prayer group.
Well, there is no group around here.
Used to be several hours away but nothing near me.

Most of the charismatic prayer groups in my area ceased to exist for whatever
reason.

Either way, whatever prayer format you're attracted to, be sure its Christ centered.

I'm strictly looking for Catholic.

Does he travel to PA...?

You know, I wondered, and so I did look up Fr. Augustine on the internet the other day, to see if he still travels conducting healing Masses/healing retreats, and he does. But I could find no schedule posted anywhere. (Note: Fr. Augustine doesn't just travel doing retreats; he is a priest of the Vincentian Congregation in India. That is his home base, and he has responsibilities there.)

We were very fortunate in OKC. There was a woman in the church who was familiar with Fr. Augustine's ministry, and she advocated strongly for him to come to OKC. She got local approval from the church, she advertised and coordinated these events, someone locally appeared to provide lodging for Father, and apparently ample donations came in to support his travelling expenses. He visited our city at least several times that I personally know of. This woman worked hard to coordinate these events and make them happen for us. And that seems to be what it takes with this sort of thing ... for someone in the local Church to take on the responsibiity of making it happen.

In the videos I posted, Fr. Augustine was in Michigan. So it appears he does not limit where he goes ...

P.S. @WarriorAngel
Your questions prompted me to look deeper into the Catholic Charismatic movement here in my area. Nothing is advertised in my diocese, but I've just discovered there's a large 'Catholic Renewal Ministries' up in the Cleveland diocese. Their website advertises their events, newsletters, and prayer groups. Occasionally I will hear of a healing Mass being held up there, on the local EWTN radio station.

I see there's a Catholic Renewal Ministries in the Scranton diocese, though it appears small. If you're really interested in this sort of thing, you might give your diocesan office a call and ask them what is available in your area. :)
