• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

For the record....

Our character education program says NOTHING one way or the other about homeosexuality. It tries to instill in kids the foundation that they will need to live their lives as productive citizens.

Also....the program doesn't take any money - or class time - away from the basics.
I do find it ironic, however, that the same Christians who argue that unscientific "intelligent desgin" notion should be taught in schools also want to see schools spend more money on science eduation.

Go for it.

Hopefully before you are on your own in a classroom, you'll find out that punishing the bullies is not, on it's own, an effective way of dealing with bullying. I understand the sentiment, but stopping bullying requires much more subtlety than that. Any decent school has a whole school bullying policy, and to have any effect it is that policy that needs to be implemented.

Well of course not, punishing /anything/ on its own usually isn't too effective. If a kid is bullying then you have to also reach out to that child and figure out why he's bullying along with making sure he or she knows that it will not be tolerated and that they need to find another way to express themselves. Kids do know how to reason, you just have to know how to communicate to them.

Sorry if I wasn't clear in what I was saying :)

Fair enough. I'll shut up now - this isn't really the place for an in depth discussion of anti-bullying policies, however interesting that might be.

Ok, but don't you think that teaching a child not to mistreat another kid just because his family is different would be a valuable lesson?
Of course, we are instructed to love our neighbor as ourselves. I'm not talking about judging a child.
