• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Character Club

Well, I have a few of my characters who seem to be open right now, but none of them know where to go. That is the purpose of this OOC. It is a place that characters from stories that have, well, died, can go to hang out and wait for a story that they can jump into. If you bring a character into here, his or her name will be put on the availabe character list. This list will be updated as often as possible.
Also, it is a place to post the different threads that could use new characters. If you want a thread added to the list, drop a line here. The list will be updated as often as possible.

So, whether you need a thread to jump into, or want to stop a thread from dying, stop in at the Character Club.

Therese and Rus walk into the club.

Therese spoke first. "My thread did not work. Figures. Who would want me in their story?"
Rus answered, "Hey, mine didn't work too well, either. I wouldn't take it personally. Some things just work better than others."
He set his battleaxe next to a chair and sat down. Therese walked over to the board. "I put our names down. Shandrey's thread is struggling, too. I wonder if he will be coming to join us."
"Nah," Rus replied, "If his thread goes down, he'll find one he can jump into quickly enough. I just don't know where I should go yet."
"Nor I. Let us continue to watch the bulletin board." Threse sat down at the same table as Rus. "I wonder if they have any food here," she said. "Or drinks."
"I'll go find out." Rus got up from the table and went to look in the kitchen.

The door opens rather abruptly and a rather harried looking elf armed with a longbow runs in, "The thread 'Lumloria Against the City of Ember' is looking for some elven warriors. If you know anyone who is interested see this notice." Without warning the elf draws back the string on his bow and fires. Across the room, as if it came out of nowhere, a parchment appears attached to the wall by an intricately carved arrow. It reads:

To all who read these words,
King Roltal of Lumloria sends greetings and a dire request for assistance.
If ye be an elven warrior, stout of heart and fleet of foot, then your aid is gravely
needed by the city of Lumloria. The evil in Ember has gone too far and we elvenkind
have suffered its existence far too long. We march against Ember!
Those willing to cast their lot in with ours should report to the OOC:Lumloria Against
the City of Ember as soon as possible. This cause is too great, the stakes too high,
to see us fail. Even if ye be not elven, but have a heart for our cause report to
Star_Splitter87 in the OOC... and bring a sharp blade with your stout heart.

Then, as suddenly as he appeared, the elf was gone.

Therese went and plucked the arrow from the wall. "You could have just handed us the message," she said into the air.
"What?" said Rus as he returned with two plates of food and two mugs of hot cocoa.
"Oh, it was nothing," she said as she posted the notice on the Bulletin Board. "Just some elf guy; you know how they are."
"Ah," Rus grunted as he set the food and drinks on the table. "Shall we eat?"
"Indeed."

As they ate, a small note appeared on the table with a puff of smoke.
"What's this?" Rus said with his mouth full. A bit of venison fell out of his mouth and on to the table. He picked it up and put it back in his mouth.
Therese did not watch him. She knew all too well of Rus' eating habits. Instead, she picked up the note and read it aloud, "Thank you for visiting the character club. Enjoy your stay. The dojo is upstairs, the gameroom is in the basement, and the bedrooms are behind the stage. Enjoy any of our nature trails through various environments; the first door left of the elevator."
She placed the note back on the table. "Looks like quite a fancy place they have going here."
"Yeah," Rus said as he took a bite off of a turkey leg. "Wonder how much it costs."

Their meal over, Therese and Rus sat in lounge chairs by a roaring fire with their mugs of hot cocoa.
"These chairs are incredible!" Rus said as he reclined in his. "Nothing in all Endolyn can compare to these. They feel like a bed made into a chair."
"They certainly are extravagant," Therese commented as she sipped on some cocoa. "And comfortable. I could fall asleep in one of these."
She smiled bashfully, "You know, Rus, it has been a while since you and I were able to just sit and talk. How are things going back home for you?"
"Well, some of the men had a quarrel with a few of the orcs, but it was settled without needing to employ the justice system. Recently, I've been busy here, trying to get a little action so I do not become rusty."
"What is all this I hear about some rifting experiment gone wrong?"
"Well, I think Shadowseldil is just trying to broaden his scope of characters. You remember those two guys he added, rifters: the young prodigy that can rift without portals, and the other blind one who found the windgate to elsewheres?"
"Yes, yes, I know. It all seems strange to me. I guess he wants to work them in somehow?"
"No, I think he is just using them as an excuse as to why we are in different worlds."
"Possible. It would not be the first time he has used a cop-out to answer questions like that."
They continued to talk as they sat and sipped on their cocoa.

Fight for Freedom, not Elves!

A dirty human, as big as a bear, bursts in. He looks at the sorry bunch of characters waiting for a cause to fight for and rolls his eyes. In a deep voice he announces, "On behalf of Lord Everel of the city of Ember, you must fight! We request assistance driving back the cruel Elven hordes trying to burn Ember into the ground and sow the feilds with salt. Fight for freedom, or be enslaved by stuffy Elven moralists! Make your choice!"

Therese stood up after the man left. She set her mug down on the table and began to walk around. The doors caught her attention; each had a sign over it telling what was behind the door. Several were odd, with such signs as "volcano", "Atlantis", and "giant inside-out tree" among her top picks. One, though, really caught her attention. It said "stables". She opened it and went inside.

Everiel cautiously entered the character club, glancing around. "Well, this is better than flying through space with a crazy sorcerer," she muttered. "I wonder if I'll ever get out of that rut...I hope so, I liked the thread itself, but when you get kidnapped and transported through some weird portal and your kidnapper disappears before you arrive anywhere, it gets old fast. Maybe I'll hang out here for a while, till Faolan reappears. If he reappears. I'm having doubts..."

Feel free to hang out here, mochagirl! Would you like your characters name added onto the list, or do you want to just relax? By the by, as a basic rule, if no one else is here, only one post per day.
I will not be able to be here very often, however. I am truly sorry, but things have come up which are going to keep me offline for the next couple of months. I will only be able to be on about once a week for only a few hours, at most. I appreciate your patience with me.

Sergeant Bismarck kicked open the door to the character club. He stood there in his blue uniform with grey composite armor and his assault rifle slung over his back. "Add me to the list." he grumbled in his deep, gruff voice. "The Struggle thread died, and being "mutantized" sucked anyway."

Yeah, that thread died a while back. I was really looking forward to using this guy too. How are you doing, Shadow?

Will peeks his head throught the door cautiously, followed by his mare, Hadassah. "Okay...there might be some orcs around here. I'd better be careful." He draws his sword quietly and sneaks into the room. He spots the soda machine. "Ack! Stay still, beast!" He points his sword at the machine, then lowers it when he realizes a soda machine is an inanimate object. "Well, Hadassah, what do we do now?" He plops down on the edge of a chair stiffly, looking around nervously. Hadassah wanders over to the snack machine and stares at it, transfixed.

Okay, Will is my character from Lord of the Rings, the first original one. Since no one has posted there for over a month, I'm going ahead and saying that it's dead. I really like Will, since he was my first rp character ever, and I want him in another rpg.

An exhausted, panting man bursts in the door, bright red hair filthy and clothes unkempt. "We need fighters, able-bodied men or woman to fight for the Bricht Swuird, or even those nasty English fellows to cause more strife..." he pants in his heavy Scottish brogue, wiping his brow. "Fight for the noble Scots in the thread The Highlands! Just ask jesusfreak10537 first!" he yells over his shouder as he sprints out the door as quickly as he came in.

A very handsome man opens the door to the Character Club and walks in, stopping to survey the scene. He stands 6'8" and weighs 267 pounds, all of it well placed and firmly muscular. (Sir Marcus has been described as a "Roman god"). I hope I can finally get some rest in here. Worrying about troop movements and the artillery line while trying to find that assassin who had infiltrated the palace was a real drag.

The man is dressed in medeival garb of the finest quality. The brown worsted wool compliments his bronze skin and blond hair admirably. He has a beautifully hand tooled, leather scabbard at his side, which holds an exquisitely crafted long sword. The clothing is stained with blood and there are several holes and tears in the otherwise gorgeous material.

Sir Marcus looked around to those in the club, "Greetings to one and all, I am Sir Marcus Athenuel, lately of the Lumloria Against the City of Ember thread. I met with an unfortunate occurence at the hands of an assassin and I would appreciate it if someone could direct me to a tailor."

Well, due to the death of the XCOM thread, Collin is back.

Collin Bismarck burst in the door and sat down at a table, cursing under his breath. "Punks cant keep a thread alive any longer than a frikin page. Morons." he grumbled, eyeing everyone with his mechanical eye...which was kinda creepy, as it stuck out of the socket, looking like a small camera lens.
