I know little about homosexuals and I care even less, but I wonder!
If homo stays with homo they will produce no offspring, given a thousand years will the genepool dry up? See I don't even know if it has any heredity charicteristics or not......

I do believe the act to be wrong on it's own merit, however the definition by state of marriage is to me so insignificant that I could careless and I think what the government should do is change the legal term "Marriage" to "Union". Because I believe the benefits given to Married couples by the state are just as well deserved by Homosexual couples.
That is why I would vote in favor of it, however what must be kept is the allowance of any church to define marriage on their own terms (which is being kept). Because in my mind marriage is a convent between God and Humanity, it must be by Gods hand that true definition is made.
The giving of union benefits to gay couples is not against Gods way, the marring of those couples is, but because the state does not do it in the authority of God I find that no person married outside of God truly married at all.

I don't believe it's right to be gay, but if someone is, that's none of my business. Canada is a country that isn't overseen by a church or anything, and we're not supposed to pray in public schools or talk about God, so why should we be against another personal choice like homosexuality? I don't think it's fair for people to impose their beliefs on others. I wouldn't want someone telling me it's wrong to be christian or get married, so why would a gay person want to hear anything of that sort? We're a very open, multi-cultural country, so that should include everything being accepted of that sort.

I really do not know how to vote on this.
This hits home for me. My Brother just emailed me and let me know that he and his....boyfriend are engaged and are planning to get married soon. But he wants to know how I feel about it. I have no idea how to answer.
There is a part of me that wants to say something along the line that in God's eye the act of homosexuality is a sin. But considering I do not know if he has ever asked Jesus to be a part of his life, I feel that would do nothing except push him farther away from God. I have also considered saying that I will come to the wedding to support him, because he is my brother and I love him, but how do I explain that I will not let my 4 year to go with me, nor do I wish to explain his lifestyle to her at this moment.
I do not know what to say, any prayer and advise would be welcomed!

Openbook, I would tell your brother exactly how you feel about this, and go from there. I don't see a problem with going to his wedding, but not bringing your child is understandable. I am sure your brother will understand that. If he knows you're a christian, he should see where you're coming from.

Many gays and lesbians I have spoken to, do not know any Christians, and those they do know are vindictive. I do not understand the theology or the comlpexity of the situation. I do know that there are people I love who sin. But I do not believe that homosexuality is any less human than pride, malice, envy, disbelief, abuse etc. Each of us receives mercy, and yet are unwilling to give that to people who need it the most! So why should people who are homosexual be treated less than those who still commit other sins?

The most stable environment for the rearing of said offspring is a monogamous relationship. This provides social and economic stability for the family thereby putting less strain on the state. For these reasons, to encourage monogamy, special privelages are given to relationships which are likely to produce children. Governments do not as a rule do things that don't benefit themselves primarily.
As for the arguement that Churches will not be forced to marry same sex couples. Horse hockey. All you have to do is look back to last spring to see an example of a young man forcing his Catholic School to allow him to take his boyfriend to the Prom. If you don't think they'll force this one too, you're nuts

If the churches revolt, then politically minded members choose to send their time, their membership, and their tythes to churches that support their liberal views. In time, the power shifts, and churches are receiving pressure from the gov't, from interest groups, and from members to comply with same-sex marriages.
That is...unless I believe that God's has a direct guiding hand in all of this.

I don't hate gay people, but I do believe that homosexuality is terribly wrong and that gay marraige is even worse. Why aren't any animals gay? Because IT IS NOT NATURAL. Humans are the only beings that BECOME gay, and i stress the word BECOME because it is a choice, you can't be born that way. You're not born with a favorite color, you choose it. Anyways, gay marriages probably can't be stopped. Let them goto city hall and have a legal ceremony, but but never in a church, a house of God. That isn't just crossing the line, thats crossing it, turning back, and spitting on it.

Man can never create a law which is better than God's. He can of course create a lot of useless laws. The bottomline is Man creating a law which makes something wrong, right - doesn't mean Man is now free to do something which goes against God's Law.
Like the guys at Hebrew National, they could fill their hotdogs with all sorts of extra stuff, as it is all legal. But they don't because they answer to a higher law.

Homosexuality is found often in the animal kingdom, it isn't as strange as first thought. Studies suggest that it's actually nature. There have probally been homosexuals for thousands of years, it just isn't a sin anymore in the modern mans eyes, so more people are willing to come clean.
A Country should work for the people, not God. God's say is only important if you reconize a God. Budhists don't reconize the Christian God, therefor they should not have to follow his saying.
Gay Marriage is one more step to the freedom you pretend you have.

Gay is not OK with God according to His word.
Forgiveness is available to anyone that repents of their sinful ways. Because God is a God of love He will accept even the worst of sinners if they change the course of their behavior and seek to live a Godly life ,God will give them the grace to do so.God's grace is sufficent.

If they Gay people wanted to be straight, I'm sure they would be. But because homosexuality isn't a choice, God must have decided for them to be that way in the first place. And if he wanted them to hide their homosexuality, then God is just cruel.
And as humans, we must accept everyone into our society(no matter who or what they are), and as a free country, everyone must get equal rights.

I believe they deserve the same rights and freedoms hetrosexuals enjoy. I say live and let live, they are not trying to force their values on us yet our church seems to think it is ok for us to force our values on them.

The answer is very simple. The government should get out of marriages/unions all together. This way the those who follow a particular religion can get married in their Church and those that don't can get a civic union saying that you are a couple. As long as everyone has the same rights under their union/marriage it shouldn't be a problem.

I feel it is completely and totally shameful what the federal government is attempting to do. If the definition of marriage is changed, the social fabric of this country will be destroyed.
Furthermore, if the definition can be changed to have two men or two women marry, what keeping three or four people from marrying?
