That is limited to technical questions. I suspect they won't be enthusiastically answering embarrassing questions, e.g. about policy.

Who would be enthusiastically answering embarrassing questions? I know of no human being that enthusiastically answers questions that are embarrassing. Do you?

In addition, if the discussions where these decisions were made weren't secret, more people could assist answering questions.

How could you possibly know whether or not these decisions were made in secret? How could you possibly know that they weren't discussed with staff prior to the change? As the past generally serves as a good example of what is to come, (it often repeats itself dontchaknow), I think you and I could both attest to the fact that upper level staff will almost always discuss changes, with lower level staff prior to the changes being made. In fact there is plenty of evidence that this has happened. The CF Angels, currently headed by Gwenyfur (who is doing a great job) are helping people understand the changes. Staff are helping people who don't understand something. Everyone is doing their job. So, this seems like a lot of protestation about nothing, imho. Change is always difficult, but let's give things a try before we start griping about how awful it is. So far, I don't see anything too terrible taking place. There are a few mistakes but, they'll be correcting them as we go along.

It is also clear that many people who should have answers to certain questions are absent.

They're not absent. They're fixing things that everyone is complaining about. As for the Super A's, those who have answers are giving them, and to be honest, there's no reason other staff can't respond here too. Relax... give it time. It's just a forum. It'll still be here tomorrow, and if things aren't to your liking, they'll probably change again later. Such is the way of the web. Change is inevitable for growth to continue. Kind of like life eh?

Moreover, if I were in charge (for which I don't think I have time)

Well you're not, so time isn't really a factor is it? Those who are best for the job are at it, and the rest of us can just enjoy the fruits of their labor.
I would have made a Q&A with the answers in the OP, like I did for appeals during the semi-democratic period. There should be enough people with the knowledge to make and update a comprehensive original post for such a thread. The communication looks improvisatory. It seems to depend on individual initiatives. They are putting more effort in it than before, but they failed to develop a communication plan.
Are those icons more resource hogging than than big images ? Is clicking someone's profile to receive basic information not draining resources ?
Why have faith icons be removed from the post headers ? When debating religion it is useful to know the stance of other participants and if you don't know them you can also misjudge them.
Why do some people have more than one character in an oversized avatar ?
Why are threads not displayed full screen (that is full width) ?
Why have staff titles been removed ?
All the rest of this is just...... on a need to know basis isn't it? If we need to know, we'll know when it's important for us to know.
Have a nice week now, and try to smile ocassionally. It'll make you feel better, and that's not such a bad thing.
