Now, I KNOW that there are a lot of budding and aspiring writers around here.

I'm one of the less vocal. I'd like to hear about the other writers around here.

here are some baseline questions to get started on introductions.

1. What type of writing do you enjoy?

2. Have you been published?

3. Do you want to be published?

4. What are some obstacles you've run into?

5. Who are you favorite writers/inspirations?

If you have any samples, or just something to share... drop me a line.

Here are my answers:

1. I enjoy writing fiction as well as non-fiction, when I find someone who has an interesting story to tell.

2. I was published a dozen or so times as a tennager in the Modesto Bee for feature articles on topics from graffitti artists to teenage pilots.

3. I REALLY want to have a novel or a collection of my short stories published someday.

4. Some of the main obstacles have been lack of inspiration, lack of original ideas, editing and binding costs and having WAY too many irons in the fire.

5. C.S. Lewis is one of my all time favorite writers. I also really like Jack London, Mark Twain and Ernest Hemmingway for fiction. Non-fiction writers don't make really big names for themselves so I'll stick to the well known ones that I really like: John Krakauer and Sebastian Junger.

1. What type of writing do you enjoy? Horror/ Suspense but I'm toying with a more romantic idea at the moment

2. Have you been published? No well if you count journalistic writing then yes

3. Do you want to be published? Yep

4. What are some obstacles you've run into? Writers block plus too little time for about 5 years. And general legal questions that I haven't had answered yet.

5. Who are you favorite writers/inspirations? Harper Lee, Dean Koontz, Sandra Brown; looking for a good classoc writer that I enjoy- no luck yet

I used to write stories all the time from like the second grade to the ninth then I didn't have much time so I stopped and couldn't think of any good ideas. But now .... too bad I have to go back to school in about 2 month :( b/c this one has potential.

What kind of law questions do you have. I may be able to help a bit.

As for classic writers... what do you mean? Are you talking about writers from the classical era? Or do you just mean writer's of Classic novels?

Either way, I'm sure I could reccommend one you'd enjoy.

I'm judging by your taste in modern wriers that you might enjoy some of Edgar Allen Poe's longer pieces.

i don't fancy myself a writer... but i love writing, only my writing is a bit one sided, and that's probably a handicap.

1. What type of writing do you enjoy? novel (fiction), and essay type on some issues (provided that i got enough infor).

2. Have you been published? no, but i did write little pieces for the magazine at church, and mostly it's not fiction type, though i did write one once.

3. Do you want to be published? um..... maybe.

4. What are some obstacles you've run into? a loss for words.

5. Who are you favorite writers/inspirations? Robert Jordan, Raymond E.Feist (just the first book)

I enjoy writting, in particular I really like to write playwrite. It's strange, lately I've been having ideas about certain pieces of prose and scripts. Unfortunately, I have lacked the motivation to just sit down and write them down.
My favorite style of writting is mostly science fiction, though I feel like writting scripts and metaphores that were based on the kingdom of God.
Due to my work load I never have the time to write and when I'm not working, I'm usually too tired to write. So if anybody has any advice for my dilema feel free to say.

1. What type of writing do you enjoy? I love writing about people and events in peoples lives. I mostly write about special needs people.

2. Have you been published? YES, I was so excited when I found out. I was publised in a special education magazine.

3. Do you want to be published? Yes, I would love to get published again, and have some works submitted to Chicken soup for the soul.

4. What are some obstacles you've run into? I am very shy when it comes to my writing, so I have had a really hard time sharing it with others. It took alot to submitt my stories to magazines and book collections.

5. Who are you favorite writers/inspirations? I don't really have a favorite writer, but I have tons of inspirations. My brother is a big one, he is mentally retarded and has cerbral palsey, he is just an awesome guy. I also like to watch people and write about what I think that they are thinking, feeling, doing.

1. What type of writing do you enjoy? I'm mostly a poet, but I really enjoy writing prose fiction too, like novels that I never seem to finish :p I occasionally like writing non fiction about my life and stuff too.

2. Have you been published? I've had my writing in my college literary magazine, by my honor society, and in the local paper.

3. Do you want to be published? Ideally I want to have a career writing among other things, and I wouldn't mind having my writing published more.

4. What are some obstacles you've run into? Occasional writing block, lack of experience, and not knowing what to do next with my writing. I also want to write something really good about God, but I'm still waiting on the inspiration for that one.

5. Who are you favorite writers/inspirations? C.S. Lewis, Ernest Hemmingway, Sylvia Plath, the Bible, L.M. Montgomery, beat poets, and lots of old hymns and different songs.

*Points to Self* Writer right here! :)

1. What type of writing do you enjoy?
Fiction and Fantasy. I usually write stories that are completly made up from my mind. I'm now getting into Fantasy works that I'm trying to imput into my own works.

2. Have you been published?
Yes, many times. I've had a few poems published in an anthology, and I had a story published in a Magazine when I was younger. I am currently waiting for the results of my poems that I attempted to publish in a book on the Internet.

3. Do you want to be published?
Well I already have but I will say it is nice to see your work in print. It's really cool to know your work will be shared with others practicly all over the country.

4. What are some obstacles you've run into?
Ugh, defently writers block and unfinished stories. I get so caught up in something new, that I forget to work on what I have already started. I have many stories I still haven't finished, but my best one I think was written for English class actually. It was the longest in the class... about 14 pages worth. ;)

5. Who are you favorite writers/inspirations?
Brian Jaques is my favorite author/writers. His books are filled with so much inspiration and fantasy. I get lots of ideas from his books, but I also get ideas from simple things like TV shows and games as well. I combine them all together in my head.

See I day dream a lot and doing that helps me create stories. My dreams and thoughts help me create huge adventure stories that are sometimes so detailed I can't put them on paper. :p

But I love to write anyway. I started when I was 7. :)

1. What type of writing do you enjoy?
My husband writes Messianic endtimes science fiction - mostly placed way in the future, although his most popular novel is slightly more contemporary: The Storm. He has written a space opera called Thy Kingdom Come, about the last apostle to the solar system.
He also writes Messianic apologetics.

2. Have you been published?

We have self published a number of his books in small quanities, and have a name in a very small circle. We are currently looking into web publishing but are temporarily stymied. We have put several of his works on CD in readable MSWord format (NOT audio/video!) that are avaliable. We are pretty much out of hard copies/bound books.

3. Do you want to be published?

Doesn't everyone!! That is one reason it is so difficult to get published!

4. What are some obstacles you've run into?

Cost - and a very cautious industry - new is not their bag.... unless they can see a really big market for it!

5. Who are you favorite writers/inspirations?

My husbands?? Aside from scripture and theology books.
The big 4 and Bova, Fleming, Herbert, Anderson, Card, Van Vogt, Orwell and more; you name it! He also reads King and numerous mystery and espionage writers.

I am interested primarily in romantic Christian fiction at this point in time, though there is so much more I would like to do. I've written two first drafts of two novels, but I have a lot of work to do to finish them. I am definitely not yet published, but dream of doing so someday. I have only been actively pursuing my dream of being a novelist for about a year, but I have wanted to be an author since I was a kid. I think I have 100 ideas in my head, its just finding the time and the inspiration to work on them. It seems as though recently God is showing me ways I can make almost any story idea a Christian fiction piece. I have spent some time on other writer's sites, but I wanted to find a place where I could talk to other Christians about my writing. Non Christian fiction writers have no concept of why we make our characters virtuous! They want everybody to swear! I am looking forward to being able to network with other Christian fiction writers.
