  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

It adds the rep but you don't see it on the post you repped after a refresh. It will appear on the person's next post.

Another Firefox issue:

In the quote screen (which is working for the first time for me now, yay!! ) the text box is pushed off to the right, making the smilies hang off the edge of the border where they appear to be suspended in black space. It's just odd looking, not a functionality issue.

Also, several icons have changed (add reputation, online, some on the UserCP next to threads that I haven't quite figured out yet). At some point it would be useful to have a legend.

I’m finding a whole lot of problems trying to use this site with Firefox. It isn’t just that some aspects of it don’t look right; it’s actually making some of them difficult to use. I hope Erwin is still intending to work on this some more, since the way it is now I may not want to stay here for much longer.

When a page is loading (mostly problematic on the UserCP page) it is constantly shifting to the left and right of the screen as it adjusts the graphics for, I believe, the black borders. Not wanting to wait for the page to completely load (which seems slow) I've tried clicking into threads, but have ended up unsubscribing to them instead because the page shifted right as I clicked.

So, while I generally like the new look of CF, I've noticed that the dark image that lies behind the site is what appears to be two mini-rail guns, possibly attached to a mecha? I don't know, but it strikes me as incongruous.

The new site is also slower loading than the old one. I've tested it on all three of my machines (2 running W2K with IE, one running XP with IE) and I've noticed about a 3 second longer loading time for just about everything I've done so far.
