CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Really? Hmm...I may do this the second time around because there were some categories that I had no idea to vote for, so I just basically grabbed anyone and voted for them. I did this because I wasn't if weren't really allowed to just not vote for certain categories.

Hey Everyone, me again. I know you're probably tired of these updates
But it's about a week from the deadline, and not to give too much away but I've been sad to see not very many voting PMs come in at all. I'm really hoping it's just due to procrastination or busy lives and that more will start flowing in. I'm possibly focusing too much on how many I had gotten this time last time the awards were going on and I just need to relax.
Hope to see some more soon!

The community base has changed since the last awards, there have been a large number of active newbies joining and a good number of oldies leaving, at this moment in time I don't think many people know the majority of newbies/oldies well enough to feel comfortable voting outside of lucky dipping names from the provided list. So the votes are likely to be fewer in number and take longer to come back as people can't just rattle off active users in their head.
Even though I know the usernames of the currently active members, I haven't seen enough of their textual personalities to do more than lucky dip them when it comes to categories. Or express huge amounts of favouritism and only vote for people I know/communicate with/find tolerable.
Give the people a chance to get to know each other. 7 days is plenty of time.

Filling it out and losing it must have been pretty annoying. I know it took a significant amount of time for a lot of people to fill out. I've learned my lesson from past experience and completed mine in word so I wouldn't have to worry about something random happening to my internet connection and losing the list.

I know that some of y'all are having a tough time thinking of someone for every vote so here's my suggestion: For those of you who have not voted you can be my tie breakers. PM me and I will give you in each category what ties need to be broken, you can only voted for 1 of the people I give to you. You will not know what place that person is in either (whether they're a winner, 2nd place, etc).
You can either post here saying you want to do this, or you can PM me. More than one person can help me out.

6 days to go and you're worrying about tie breakers? Are they that numerous that seeing whether the remaining votes will break them naturally/joint placings are really out of the question?
It's an interesting twist though. I wish i'd held off voting, I like to have an idea of the names being thrown around. It is the nosy old woman in me, she likes to know.
