• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I definitely have time to do some volunteering in case you need/want some help. :)

I had spoken with a friend a few months back about me bringing back the awards, but I was a little busier then and there was still some...tension...on the forum at that time, so I figured I should hold off. I think it's the perfect time to do it now though! I'm so happy you're bringing back, Jennie! :sohappy:

Woot! That would be awesome :)

Yeah I totally know what you mean. I would really like to hear some of your ideas if you have any on the awards?

I'm happy that you and the others are so welcoming of the idea of it coming back! :D

I don't know how y'all did it in the past.

I actually thought about starting Singles Awards a few weeks ago. The scheme I worked out was that we would start one thread for awards, where everyone lists the awards we should give. (For example, we need a funniest poster award.) Then we start a thread for each award and get people to post their nominations. Then we start ANOTHER thread for each award with a poll, and list the people nominated most often for that category as poll options. Then the person with the most poll votes wins that award.

Is that how y'all did it in the past? And is that too many new threads? Ideas?

That would be too many threads. No, the majority of the process was quiet and very much behind the scenes, and in the end when all the votes had been tallied, a Award Ceremony/Party thread was made and the awards were announced one by one (few minutes in between each one).

It seemed about a week or so before the award ceremony a date and time for it was announced and that way everyone knew to be on that evening to party and see who the winners would be. It was like our very own Academy Awards ceremony. Some of the girls would joke and post a pic of the 'dress' she had picked out for the ceremony and everything. It was fun. :)

That sounds really fun! I'm liking this idea.

As the reigning:

"Most sarcastic male"
"Best male thread starter"
"Best male repoholic"
"Best male profile picture"

I shall be quite gracious to relinquish these honors to the next worthy nominees.

And you shall...you shall...:bow::cool:

Wow this thread exploded! lol

Miss Spaulding got it right. I know in the past I took over all the jobs and I know a lot of people wanted to volunteer so this time around I wanted to let the option be up to y'all.

We can use this thread obviously for the discussions of all things awards. Miss Spauldings post got me all excited about the awards all over again! Especially picking out the dress, part. lol

CF Award Jobs:
Vote Tallier - Description: You must PM every active member of Singles with the list of categories and let them know about the awards, and explain how the voting works. Now I usually waited until I figured the majority of people who were going to vote voted and then I would make a thread in the Member Notes area where I tallied up the votes.

Awards - Description: Award making for every category. Usually I waited to make these until I knew the date of the awards night, and would put the name of the award and the date on each award.

Awards Hosting - Description: I had photobucket open from where I had all the awards saved, and usually did them in order of how the categories were. Waited a few seconds for people to see the award, ooh and ahh and congrats to the award winner and then go to the next award.

Anyhow, all these can be edited and molded into something different very easily, more than one person can tackle each of the jobs if thats whats decided.

Something to think about and discuss. Majority rules usually on the decisions made in the discussion thread. But we have awhile to talk it out! :)
