Erm...yeah, that is a bit over-critical...

I'm sorry if it is... and I think ANY critique is unpleasant! I don't like it either.
But I do graphics and I gave specific reasons why I didn't care for the design from a graphics viewpoint... Not a generalized "I don't care for it". I thought giving reasons would be more helpful.
I didn't do it to be critical, but to give reasons these styles didn't mesh together asthetically - with color and femininity styles.

I am sorry, but at the same time, I do enjoy CF, and I want to be proud of or at least happy with the graphics that represent my community.
So.... that's pretty much all I can say as far as why I gave that much detail, it was for a specific purpose.

(& that's part of entering competitions - when we put out our product, we have to stand up to criticism & that's the WORST part about it - I get criticism of my work as well & we have to learn to take that).

I'd definitely like to see an offering with more cooperative cats, but I think StarJewel will discern helpful criticism and praise from harsher forms elsewhere.

I'm a fan of both kinder and gentler displays, and the blood stained cross and nails often common to our sacrificial faith, but I still prefer the cup.

Simple is better. Don't go overboard on complicated images (like using complex paintings in the background).

Well... the food bowl was sent to me as a GIFT from another kind member who also SENT ME THE CAT as a gift becuz of an inside joke.

This usually happens after you say anything negative to people here... the claws (no pun) usually do come out.
How dare anyone say something negative... oddly, they often end up being even ruder than the original comment was that they found so rude or offensive. lol
People love a good brawl.

I have a personality type and this is the "kinder, gentler" me...
I take detailed criticism in the work I do, and that is what I relay as I view it from my perspective.
(by the way, has anyone seen "American Idol"? "Top Design"? "Project Runway"?
Those shows are RUDE & extremely harsh - but they HELP people w/ the detailed critiques they give).

I don't view my post as rude or offensive at all, but kind & helpful. As I said, NO ONE ENJOYS IT - I don't either, and I do recieve it like anyone else does.
I don't like general criticisms that just attack, I like HELPFUL criticism so I can strive to do better. That is what I personally prefer, so I did that in kind.

I do not mean to be offensive - but I don't like this.
It takes on a feminine look w/ the leaves in the back there and the font is too casual... I also don't care for the green gradient colorscheme on the text matched w/ the gold metalic.... it doesn't work.
I also don't care for the oval gold plating/metalic look with the gray/metalic background - the styles clash imo.

sorry I sound so critical, but I really don't like this scheme for a debate board.
I'd like to see something more dominant & masculine than feminine.

Thanks for telling me about what you don't like it in... I'll keep it in mind next time I try to make a logo for CF. I had no idea what to do with the gray metallic background, that's why I decided to stay with it. Maybe I'll think of something interesting before the competition ends....

As for the other things, I think that CF is something different for you than it is for me... For me, CF is mostly just a place where I can meet and interact with friends... sometimes I take part in debates, but for me debates aren't the essence of CF...

I was working on something too & I'm stuck on the same issue you are... the gray metal board on the bg. & I thought they planned on keeping that..
I was thinking of trying to change that into something more rustic... but then that messes with alot of other details for the overall site.
It could be changed to a BROWN theme tho... like brassy... the theme could even go high tech.
But most graphics that work for Christianity are in the browns & golds... it's not easy to work w/ silver metalics .

I actually like the graphics that they already have w/ the graffiti style going on... I think they should revamp it & stick with that grungy look. lol

I'm struggling w/ ideas for it too. I may not even come up with anything! lol
But thanks for not giving me grief over my post.. I was dreading what this might turn into.

Yes... Different people just see CF in totally different ways.

I hope you come up with some interesting idea. As for me, I'm quite new to stuff like making graphics (I became interested in things like that just a little more than a year ago, and I'm still learning, because I don't do things like it often), so I still have a lot to learn... I was thinking about making some kind of sky and clouds background for the main logo which I made, but I wasn't sure if it would look well...

Thank you Talitha, I appreciate that too - I've been at the brunt of some very critical customers - to the point where I wanted to just can the project myself! lol
Some people are truly overly picky! (AND RUDE!) lol

The problem with the main image is blending whatever it is into the metalic BG theme... I LOVE the idea of parchment paper & olden themes... but it clashes w/ the silver board.
That's why I think grunge goes best with silver... it's unisex. (even tho I lean towards making feminine styles myself)

Anyways, thank you for your support & comments. I was truly dreading where this thread was going to go after I recieved my first 2 complaints right after.
I have nothing against anyone & want to keep it that way

I think the cat is cute, and looks quite happy there. And I love what you've done to your hair. The rose of friendship is very nice too, but I still say there needs to be a cup somewhere... oh, like maybe way up at the top of the screen, over in the left corner.
