  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

One problem is the Version of the software we're running is an old version.
If I'm correct it's vBulletin 3.7.0
The Current Version is 4.2 (If I'm Correct)

And with all the patching they've done, they're unable (Don't ask me why though) to Upgrade it to the current version.

Me. I'd just pull a copy of the database to an offsite server, and see what's required to get it running with the newest version, once done, take the main site down, upgrade to new version & upgrade the Database.

Hardware limitation? Money?

I'm not a vBulletin dev, but it doesn't surprise me considering the sheer volume of traffic and the many users who are on at a time. vBulletin is known to be hard on MySQL as it is, and it is not unheard of for a single SQL query to kill a server (especially when you consider it keeps getting repeated due to high traffic). If that is what happened, you either change the code (which may or may not kill the rest of the site) or nix the feature. For a feature that I and probably a good many other people never found useful, the choice is obvious.
