• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hello,

I have a condition called "Cerebral Palsy" which is a disorder usually caused by brain damage occurring at or before birth and marked by muscular impairment. Often accompanied by poor coordination, it sometimes involves speech and learning difficulties.

It affected my legs, but by the grace of god hasn't my speech or learning.

Does anyone else here have this condition?

God Bless,
Justin.

Justin,
I donot have cerebral palsy but I want to thank you for bringing a smile to my face today, I listened to "I Can Only Imagine" on your sounder dealy by your name, and I absolutely love that song, it gives me goosebumps. Thanks.
I have a friend who is 27 years old, female, who has cerebral palsy. She's in college, has been since she graduated from highschool. She's in a wheel chair, has body tics, has trouble controlling her body movement, can't talk well, she uses one of those computer dealys(I can't think of the correct word for it...) to talk, but she lives on her own with daily help from her PCA's. I just wanted you to know that know about and care about what you deal with daily.

Gods Grace is Beautiful, isn't it?

Hi Justin!

I don't have CP, but one of my close friends has it. It has affected her physically, she can walk for short distances, but needs a wheelchair for the rest of the time, it can also be hard to understand her speech if she's tired/emotional. But she went on and won 4 medals at the last paralympics at the age of 19 :)

Keep on doing what you're doing and show people that having CP doesn't limit the kind of person you can be.

Hello,

Thank you for that message. It's an inspiration to me when I hear of people with CP not letting it get in the way of the things they can achieve in life.

God Bless,
Justin.

I was born with CP, more than 50 years ago. Age has brought on carpelltunnel, making using my hands even more frustrating. I'm married, not neccessarily happily, to a bi-polar man with multiple health problems. We have two sons ages 17 and 14. They are good boys, but not the greatest students. Intelligence is not a problem; motivation is. Don't understand able-bodied people who are content to sit on their rears all day.

I will be praying for you and your family. I'm just happy to see someone in the same condition as me getting around .. may God bless you.

Justin, if you have your speech, you have a lot. My speech is messed up, which often leads to lonliness. Also, my coodination. You're a young guy. Good speech and a good brain. I hope you're training for a career.

I'm sorry to hear this. My coordination is not 100%, but that probably has a lot to do with not having full sight in one of my eyes.

I'm currently planning to get an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice starting next semester if things go well.

God Bless,
Justin.

I have cerebral palsy too! Spastic Diplegia to be exact. Thank You for creating this thread. Sometimes on the internet it is just as easy not to discuss it. But, it's nice to know that there are people out there like me.

God Bless,

I'm very thankful to know that there are others out there that I can relate to that have the same condition as well. I believe having CP has made my life a lot more enjoyable and unique compared to others.

Without having CP, I don't think I would have ever found my true niche in computers and the internet, and it really helps others realize that there's really no reason, no matter the circumstance, that you can't do whatever you put your mind to.

I really have to thank God that I have CP. People are all the time wanting to pray for me and ask me a lot of questions about it, but to be honest, I don't want prayer for it.. because I feel God put me here with it for a reason, and it hasn't one bit limited to what I can do.

God Bless,
Justin.

Well, to be honest, if God gave me an option, I'd lose the CP in a second. Seeing how I don't have a say, I've chosen to make the best of life.
As you age, you'll have more aches and pains and tire faster. I'm only 52, which may sound old to most of you. Although my health seems good, my pains and stimina loss leeaves me feeling closer to 70 at times.
