• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

It is often genetic, however toxins, some medications, injury, and a number of other things can cause it. For instance, mine was caused by an old and used long-term medicine, that they didn't really know all the side effects of. It is usually ongoing. It's symptoms, besides a CT or MRI, are imbalance, sometimes tremors, sometimes loss of executive functions, sometimes a little loss of memory and a few other things.

It is sometimes totally progressive, meaning eventually a wheelchair, but if it's caught soon enough it's sometimes can be slowed down. Mine wasn't caught soon enough ( I think it's been there for years) so the Dr. wants me to use a cane, however it's worst symptoms come and go, so I usually can get the away with not using it during the day. Often at night I need it. Balance has a lot to do with your vision, too. I also can't look up ( super imbalance) or close my eyes unless I'm holding on to something. It's progressing very slowly tho'. I don't expect I'll need a wheelchair for 15-20 years, a walker for 10 years (I'm stubborn).
