My friend is trying to get me to put some cereal in Grace's formula and I'm not so sure this is a good idea? Anyone done this early on?

My first son had acid reflux as a baby. our pediatrician did not recommend any cereal in the bottle until after age 4months.I was thinking that it may cause her tummy to be upset too we just now are getting kinda normal after switching back to the original formula I gave her. But my friend swears it helps. She keeps saying she isn't getting enough but I mean she finishes her bottle sometimes & is gaining weight just fine. I know the doc will give it I think to babies who have reflux.
Oh my gosh that sounds like my grandmother. My Mother and Grandmother came out to visit me this past March and my SIL, her husband and (at the time) 5 month old niece came over for supper. Anyway after dinner we were eating pie and ice cream and all of a sudden I noticed my grandmother trying to feel the baby ice creamllghoney, your friend sounds like my Mother!!! She keeps telling me that Maddie needs to have solids. It is really annoying to have to listen to isn't it!
I just have to tell you this story... I was completely grrrrrr!!!
Maddie goes with my Mum every second tuesday to a prayer meeting with ladies from my mothers church, while I am at work. One lady (who is my mothers best friend and who I have known since I was born) came over to Maddie with some chocolate on her finger from her chocolate bar and tried to feed it to her. I was there that week and was really quite annoyed. She then started on saying that MAddie needed solids. Even if she was ready for them, there is no way chocolate would be one of them. GRRRRRR!!!
Maddie is 19 weeks old and I'm still not thinking about giving her solids!
I haven't read all this thread. Placing cereals in formula is an old idea. It was once upon time, when I was a baby (wow, that's a long time ago) it was put in the night bottle to get the baby to sleep through the night. It didn't work then and I doubt very much it would work now.My friend is trying to get me to put some cereal in Grace's formula and I'm not so sure this is a good idea? Anyone done this early on?
