Second only to dinosaurs, cephalopods are my favorite thing in the world.

Oh and speaking of extinct creatures and cephalopods, we cannot forget the ammonites.

Thise guys are awesome. I was on an Australia Geographic research trip a few years ago and my dive buddy and I collected a specimen of what was believed to be a new species of Amphioctopus (the genus of the one in the video). I don't think it ended up being classified as such but it was still cool to find something that got the experts excited.

I don't think you can beat the flambouyant cuttlefish. They are such interesting creatures.

I was originally going to title this thread "Cuttlefish!", but I considering how I love all cephalopods, I kept with the title I have in place

I got my hands on the internal mould of a Jurassic ammonite on a geology field trip to the north of Scotland. One of the nice old geologists that were with us found it, and somehow (wonder how ) I ended up with it. Had to lug a brick-sized, heavy block of rock around for hours while climbing over rocks and taking notes before we got back to the bus. Oh, fun times

All I saw of Old Red Sandstone fish was a few scattered scales in something that was neither red nor sandstone, though
