Looking back through the various threads BtW has posted on I struggle to find a single instance of him answering a question. Lots of prevarication and heading off on tangents but very little that could actually be considered a response to the actual question.

I agree. He seems pathologically incapable of addressing the essence of any question directed to him. I wonder whether that is a cause or an effect of his belief system.

Yes I know Jesus was crucified. That however does not change the way he treated people. He basically was kind & compassionate while firmly keeping to his teaching and purpose. He was not aggressive towards others while doing this.

Yeah valid point Dags, did you get a chance to read Isiah by the way, you know the part where God destroys Judea and Israel, sends them all to, well destroys his beloved people because they turned from him, they were sinners.

As an atheist I find that remark distasteful. I do not believe the Gospels are literal truth, but I do not hate them. I also do not hate the Harry Potter books even although I believe them to be fiction. Like the Santa Clause story, the gospels have some good bits. And like the children who believe in Santa I can't bring myself to hate peole who do believe the scriptures are divinely inspired (providing they don't use their belief to propagate hate or misinformation).

The part of your post I bolded shows you completely ignored part of my post. Otherwise you would not have written that. It also shows you have ignored other posts of mine in this thread. Yes God will judge athiests along with everybody. However you are not to judge them. That much is clear in scripture. Sure preach the gospel and stick hard and fast to it just like Jesus did. From the way you post here if you had been the one whom the woman caught in adultery was brought to you would have been very harsh towards her as opposed to the approach of Jesus which was kind & compassionate but still Jesus firmly instructs to "Go and sin no more" That is the difference.

Dont be silly. At no stage have I taken the high moral ground, I recognise my sin, and have even admitted it on this forum, I admit I am a sinner, I have admitted I am a liar and a thief. I have never ever stood on a high moral platform.

When you get through Isaiah turn to Romans and read your moral obligation from Jesus to all mankind, what you are expected to do. Turn to your Bible, do you believe its the word of God??

I have a link in my email in box stating that an update was made to the thread about the Australian census, but it doesn't lead anywhere, and the thread no longer appears in the AU/NZ threads list. Must have fallen off the internet. (Census - Page 3 - Christian Forums)
Anyhoo, the census is almost upon us, and the prejudiced and innaccurate scare campaign urging non christians to tick christian on their cesus forms, in order to prevent our nation being overrun by mosques, is still circulating via email. I urge christians and non-christians alike to answer the census questions honestly, as lying on the census is both a crime according to federal law, and breaks a commandment according to biblical mandate.
Urging other people to lie doesn't seem to get a mention in the Bible, but I hope its obvious to everyone that it's a pretty low act by any ethical model.
Here's hoping the Christian Forums webspace isn't broken to the extent that this thread falls off the internet as well.

Haha, never heard of that one before. I've only seen a bunch of flyers urging people to tick 'non-religious' to cut funds from being given to them, since a lot of people think "oh, well my grandparents were catholic I guess that makes me catholic too!".

I have replied above but in light of your post, and my reading of Habakkuk this evening I would be blessed if you read Habakkuk Chpt1 V1 to 4. Then my brother condemn Habakkuk the prophet for condemning Israel, or Judah as the case maybe.

That's a silly thing to say. First up, I let children enjoy their moment of fantasy because it is part of being a child. But when my kids began to grow up the time came to tell them the truth.

Secondly, I don't have too many grown ups trying to tell me Santa or the Easter Bunny are real. Nor do they insist that we base laws, political positions and social programs on the basis that Harry Potter is real.

It depends on how you define sin. If it bad behaviour, in general, then I agree it exists. However, if the definition of sin is to offend God then, because I do not concede that God exists, I cannot accept that sin exists. That definition also raises an interesting point about knowing the mind of god. If we cannot read god's mind how do we know what sin is?

Well since the original thread has reappeared I've had a look and Buskers post was not edited which means all his original content is there. There is no evidence of him demanding people live by his values. Just asking and pleading (same as urging!). So no evidence to your claim just like I originally said.

I do not think lying is a sin. I think lying leads to greater levels of unfairness in a community. I think sin is a concept churches use to keep their congregations cowed.
I can speak for myself, without you paraphrasing me and without your Bible putting words into my mouth. I do not hate god. I don't think god exists, and there's no point hating something that doesn't exist.
I find you highly annoying, but can't muster the energy to use you as a focus for hatred.
What I do hate is being expected to defer to rules with no basis in ethics. You keep your religion out of the management of my life and I'll keep to myself. You rail against me coming to this forum, but I was invited and have done my best to remain polite in the face of abusive rants from you and Monarchist (are you the same person?) and constant calls to plump for Pascall's wager. Both these facets of my experience on this forum mirror my experiences in Australian society generally. Is it at all suprising that I find your religion distasteful and request that you keep it for those who ask for it?
