CBS News vows to air only uncut interviews on ‘Face the Nation’ after Kristi Noem uproar

The network announced this week that its flagship Sunday show will now air only live or live-to-tape interviews.

I hope this becomes a trend. The last time I did a TV interview they shot about 20 minutes worth of footage. So they had plenty for the local news, they ended up putting in information after airing the interview clip or clips, saying I was for something when I never said it. I would have said the opposite if asked. They have a narrative.

I'm fine with the decision, but the only thing deceptive about that Face the Nation clip are Noem's claims about the editing. Yes, they cut her answer, but the part they cut out was largely unfounded/unverified claims about Garcia that had already been made numerous times in public and didn't change the substance of her answer. If anything, the edit made her look more professional and less like a sniveling Trump acolyte.

People should know that back in 2019 a police gang unit validated Garcia as an MS-13 member, and that when they arrested him they found drugs and cash. People have a right to know these things, and Face the Nation was called out and has appropriately changed their policy..

No, they didn't validate anything; an officer, who had since been fired for an unrelated cause, accused Albrego Garcia. He was accused of being in a gang in a place where he had never lived. There were no drugs at that arrest.
